★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My kids and I used to watched Chopped when they were little. To the point where one Christmas morning my daughter comes running in my room excited about Santa coming, saw an episode of Chopped was on, and sat down to watch and forgot about Santa. If you had told me back then I'd get to eat at Alex Guarnachelli's restaurant...it was such a surreal and beautiful experience. And as suspected from the show, Alex definitely loves the salt.
September 12 · Jessica BustamanteThis place was great and lived up to the hype with prices to match. The food was exquisite, the service amazing and the atmosphere and decor was great.Went with a large group so we of course had the Parkerhouse Rolls that came with a Sour Cream Butter and an Herb Butter, both hand made and exquisite for sure.We also shared a bunch of appetizers and snacks. The Thick-Cut Veal Bacon was definitely different but I will say it was my least favorite thing I ate.The Endive & Grilled Peach salad was exquisite and the feta and candied almonds were a perfect addition to it. The Cavatappi Pasta was delicious and the spicy lamb sausage gave it a perfect kick. The Gnocchi "Mac & Cheese" was also delicious. For the main course I got the Smoked Double-Cut Heritage Pork Chop and it was huge and perfectly cooked. The lardon sauce delicious and complimented the Pork Chop and the smashed fingerling sweet potatoes it came with perfectly. The Cocktails were exceptional but with no menu online I can't remember the details but they were tasty and expertly made as wellThe meal of course closed with desert and my favorites were the Frog Hollow Peach Crisp and the Honeydew Melon Sorbet. All in all this place is recommended but be prepared to spend to get the full experience.
September 10 · Seth MellinIf you’ve watched Gossip Girl or follow the culinary scene, Butter is a highly acclaimed restaurant from celebrity Chef Alex GuarnaschelliBetween the high arching ceilings creating a modern, posh experience for the intimate diners, there are also laid back booths that let the casual tourist come in for a laid back biteAs the name suggests, the butter here is fantastic. The homemade rolls (really tasty) come with a sour cream butter, and an herb butterGiven our group size, we had a prixe fix menu. The garden salad could have used something crunchy.. felt like a LOT of lettuce. But everything else was deliciousEven as someone who isn’t vegan, the grilled white cloud cauliflower rocked my world. It’s bathed in a creamy, rich coconut milk.. and is prepared using Alex’s grandmother’s recipe (or so the server said)The roasted potatoes with rosemary were outstandingFor dessert, the triple chocolate cake was good.. but nothing to write home about. To our surprise, the exterior texture is ‘crunchy’ almost like a glazed syrup (think creme brulée) that’s been torched.. different. But very very richThe raspberry beignets were served with a thick crème anglaise.. tasty but also a tad bit dry (but still delicious!)Btw shout out to our server, Jaclyn, who was extremely attentive and did an outstanding job looking after all 19 of us!
March 23 · Ashish AggarwalButter Restaurant offers a beautifully designed atmosphere with a refined yet inviting ambiance, perfect for a stylish dinner out in Midtown. During our visit, the overall experience was enjoyable and worth the walk, thanks in large part to the attentive service and artistic presentation of the dishes. The salmon stood out as a highlight, flavorful, well prepared, and plated with elegance. However, at $40 without a side, it felt slightly overpriced, leaving a gap between value and expectation. The steak, priced at $65, was tender and well seasoned, but unfortunately arrived warm rather than hot, which dulled the impact of an otherwise premium entrée. For a steak in that price range, temperature and timing should have been more precise. On a brighter note, the mac and cheese was comforting, creamy, and delivered hot, likely thanks to the heated serving dish or a finishing torch. It complemented the proteins well and added a satisfying touch to the meal. While certain pricing elements didn’t align with the portions or temperature expectations, the overall experience was still positive. Butter earns its reputation for ambiance and quality, but future diners may want to calibrate their expectations when it comes to price to portion and dish temperature consistency.
July 10 · Paul JohnsonI have been a huge fan of Alex Guarnescelli forever so obviously we were going to check out butter while in NYC. The bread and butter was amazing as was the rest of our meal. The service was excellent. The chocolate cake was good but not what I would expect. When we were there, the restaurant was oddly empty. All in all I would recommend. This is located within walking distance from Times Square so it’s a great spot to eat before a show.
