Carvel Introduce
Welcome to a true Long Island classic, the Carvel Ice Cream Shoppe located right in the heart of Hewlett, NY. For generations of New Yorkers, the name Carvel has been synonymous with celebrations, summer treats, and the unmistakable crunch of its famous chocolate crunchies. This local spot on Peninsula Boulevard carries on that rich tradition, serving up all the nostalgic favorites and creamy delights that the brand is known for. Whether you're planning a birthday party and need a spectacular ice cream cake or simply craving a cool, refreshing cone on a warm afternoon, this Hewlett location is a go-to destination for fantastic frozen desserts.
Carvel holds a special place in the hearts of New York residents, dating back to 1934 when Tom Carvel first invented soft serve ice cream. The creamy, rich, and fluffy texture of their soft serve remains a hallmark of the experience. The Hewlett location is a perfect spot for families and individuals in the Five Towns area looking for reliable, high-quality ice cream treats. It's more than just an ice cream store; it’s a neighborhood staple where new memories are made with every scoop, shake, and cake.
When it comes to the products themselves, the Hewlett Carvel offers a comprehensive menu that covers every possible sweet craving. From the famous ice cream cakes that have graced countless local birthday tables to hand-spun shakes and sundaes layered with delicious toppings, there is something for everyone. This location is dedicated to delivering that consistent, high-quality Carvel experience, ensuring every customer walks away satisfied.
In terms of customer experience, this particular shop is generally praised by locals for its essential role in the community. One happy customer shared, "This ice cream shop is our favorite spot for a sweet treat. We often get an ice cream cake for someone's birthday as well. Their ice cream is absolutely fantastic, and the staff are always so patient and kind. 🍦💕" This sentiment highlights the friendly and dedicated service that contributes to a positive, family-friendly atmosphere.
However, as with any popular establishment, experiences can vary. Another patron recounted a visit that didn't quite meet their expectations for portion size and consistency: "I was on my way home from work and I felt the need for Carvel. This not my regular Carvel and I ordered a large chocolate cone with sprinkles. When the cone came to me it was like a small cone at every other Carvel. I told the person this is a really weak large cone. He was nice enough to say he'll take it back and make me another but I wouldn't let him. I left and the ice cream was also not very thick. It started dripping immediately. I ate it just the same but next time I'll go directly to my regular Carvel on Hillside and 267th Street." While the store offered to correct the issue, this review suggests that the consistency of soft serve thickness and portion size may sometimes fluctuate, which is important for New York ice cream enthusiasts who expect a certain thickness from their cones, especially on a hot day. It is always a good idea to check your order upon receipt to ensure it meets your expectations for the perfect soft serve swirl.
Overall, the Hewlett Carvel remains a well-loved fixture, with a broad menu that has kept it a prominent dessert choice for the Long Island community for years.

What is Worth Choosing
For New Yorkers seeking a consistently good frozen treat, the Hewlett Carvel is a reliable choice for several key products. If you're a first-time visitor or a long-time fan, there are certain items that represent the pinnacle of the Carvel tradition.
Undoubtedly, the Fudgie the Whale® Ice Cream Cake is the defining item for any celebration. This cake, with its layers of classic vanilla and chocolate soft serve, separated by the signature crunchies and covered in fudge and whipped topping, is the centerpiece of countless Long Island parties. Its nostalgic value and irresistible combination of creamy, crunchy, and fudge-rich textures make it a non-negotiable choice for birthdays and family gatherings. For a slightly different twist on the classic, the Cookie Puss® Cake offers a delightful, whimsical alternative.
For an immediate personal treat, the Sundae Dashers® are highly recommended. These provide a perfectly layered, indulgent dessert that combines creamy soft serve with popular mix-ins like OREO® or Reese's® Peanut Butter Cups, ensuring a decadent experience in a manageable format. The layered construction of the Dashers ensures you get all the components—ice cream, toppings, and fudge—in nearly every spoonful.
Finally, for those who prefer the simplicity of the original soft serve, it is worth noting the customer feedback. While some patrons have experienced variations in thickness, the core flavor is often described as excellent. To ensure the best experience, ordering a take-home product like an Ice Cream Pint or Quart allows you to enjoy the classic Carvel soft serve texture at its freshest and most solid state, minimizing any melting issues sometimes associated with cones. For those looking for a non-dairy option, the fact that this shop offers an Oatly Round Cake and shakes is a huge advantage, demonstrating their commitment to serving the entire community with delicious, inclusive dessert options. The Hewlett Carvel is a classic establishment that truly has something sweet for everyone.

October 22 · SarahI love Carvel ice cream ♥️💖♥️Feel like a little girl all over again 🙄
March 19 · Donna MartinsDefinitely one of my favourite Carvel locations! I try to come on Wednesdays because there’s a buy one, get one free for soft serve on those days and it’s like a little treat. There’s an older white male that works here who is so kind and very respectful. He’s so helpful and patient when it comes to serving up your ice cream. There’s a multitude of flavours in this location like Banana which I’ve never tried (but is so good!). Everything is super clean here and the ice cream is creamy.
April 21 · Sofia BellucciReason for my 3 was because staff were sitting on the shelf with their bottom but jumped off as I walked in to serve me and the place wasn’t too tidy as well as staff appearances and uniform it turn me off right away they move quickly/attentive but the entire image wasn’t how I would expect. I almost walked out but the fact they were still quick to serve me I stayed and the first staff made a ice cream for me very unpresentable so i ask the female to remake it more suitable and she did but they definitely can use some retraining and better supervision. Their intentions were good but phones laid everywhere the food is made and the sitting on the counter were food is prepared was a shocker.
