E-Z Market Introduce
For students, faculty, and residents in the heart of Newark, New Jersey, E-Z Market on University Avenue stands out as a critical local hub. Operating as both a convenient market and a fast-casual restaurant, this establishment perfectly caters to the pace of urban life. It’s the go-to destination for anyone needing a quick snack, a comprehensive breakfast to start the day, or a satisfying, customizable meal like a Mac & Cheese Bowl or a fresh-made burrito. The dual nature of the business ensures that while you can grab essential convenience items, you are also able to order high-quality, made-to-order comfort food.
E-Z Market has quickly become highly popular, particularly for its breakfast offerings. Customers frequently stop in for a quick, filling meal before heading to work or classes, with items like the $5.99 Egg & Cheese Sandwich or the more substantial $10.39 Breakfast Burrito being top choices. Beyond the morning rush, the menu expands into a diverse selection of globally-inspired comfort food. This includes the build-your-own Mac & Cheese Bowls with flavors like Cajun and Tikka (both $7.09), a variety of personal pizzas such as the $11.49 Buffalo Chicken Pizza, and savory snacks like $3.79 Empanadas and $5.19 Samosas.
While the business focuses on quick and convenient service, customer feedback highlights the critical importance of consistent service and high standards for food quality. As a central spot near a major university, the market attracts a large and diverse customer base. While many enjoy the food and find the service prompt, there have been serious customer reports regarding food freshness and the conduct of some staff members, including accusations of poor customer service and discriminatory behavior. These isolated but serious issues underscore the necessity for the management to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and food safety to ensure all patrons—a loyal and varied local community—feel respected and well-served. Given the central location, the management must actively address these concerns to maintain the trust of its local customer base.
E-Z Market is centrally located at 155 University Ave #1901, Newark, NJ 07102, placing it directly within the bustling university and downtown district. This address makes it exceptionally convenient for those attending or working at the nearby campuses and institutions that define Newark's center. Its position on University Avenue ensures high foot traffic and easy visibility.
The market is designed to be accessible to the entire community, offering a Wheelchair accessible entrance. This dedication to inclusion ensures that all patrons, regardless of mobility, can easily access the wide array of food and convenience items inside. For quick stops, the location is well-served by public transportation options in the area. The core value proposition is the immense variety of comfort food available for a quick bite. Where else can you grab a well-regarded coffee, pay for groceries with SNAP/EBT, and order a $10.79 Bean Quesadilla or a $7.09 Tikka Mac & Cheese all in one transaction? Furthermore, the acceptance of SNAP/EBT is a substantial benefit that makes quality prepared meals and grocery items accessible to a wider segment of the Newark population. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1imagine going to a deli 4x a week for months on end. Imagine buying the same sandwich 4x a week. imagine being polite when visiting a deli and never being disrespectful . Now Imagine going one day ordering a sandwich and getting rotten meat instead and none of the add on u paid extra for. This month I brought a sandwich while going to NYC, then I returned LESS than 24 hours later. when i returned the Same man who would process my order on m-F and ALWAYS look intensely at me told me because i didnt cancel my travel to NYC that he couldnt redo my sandwich, i didnt even want a refund!!. he said HE wasnt there. ok but I WAS , theres cameras and so is this charge on my cc.im so disappointed and im in the mist of doing a chargeback over false advisiting on this sandwhich with rotten meat. This is how you treat your loyal customers. YOU see me every wk and thats how u treat me ? wow
February 16 · Maria TanRACIST! RACIST! RACIST!The older male cashier chased me outside and accused me of stealing a water, which I purchased from an entirely different store and told him. He yelled I have you on camera and then I told him ok show me. We went back in and after waiting for 10 mins they said it wasn’t me. I asked for an apology and they gave one with excuses instead of accusing a random Black man walking down the street of stealing. They refused and said sorry was enough it wasn’t. Don’t patronize here there are other markets 7th ave across the street and many others within a short walks distance.
October 21 · Delon ThorntonTheir subs are pretty good... I loved the jerked turkey. They have lots of snacks and drinks... Not bad.. They are also 24 hours so that's a plus.
August 10 · Erik Wrightused to be the spot .. now they close at 8 pm.. why would i go to ez mart before 8 pm when the whole point was for late night foodother than that good quesadillas would be a 5 star review if they were 24 7 again
December 21 · Gerard Losurdopretty terrible service. no one really speaks to you just rings you and takes your money. didn't give a receipt. There are no prices poste anywhere. But it's the only convenience store in the area so it has that going for it.
