El Discipulo Chimi Introduce
El Discipulo Chimi stands as a dedicated fast food establishment in the heart of the Bronx, catering to New Yorkers seeking the distinct, flavorful taste of traditional Dominican street fare. Categorized specifically as a fast food restaurant, this venue has built its reputation on serving quick, satisfying, and authentically seasoned dishes, with a particular focus on the iconic “Chimi” sandwich—a local favorite known for its rich flavors and availability during late hours.
A "Chimi," short for Chimichurri Burger (or Chimi Dominicano), is a signature Dominican street food that should not be confused with the Argentinian green chimichurri sauce. The Dominican chimi is essentially a seasoned, often thinly pressed, beef or pork patty (or sometimes a combination of both), topped with a crunchy slaw of shredded cabbage, tomatoes, and red onions, and smothered in a creamy, tangy pink sauce known as salsa golf (a popular blend of mayonnaise and ketchup, often enhanced with unique Dominican seasonings like Worcestershire sauce or orange juice). This savory assembly is traditionally served on a toasted, sturdy bread roll like pan de agua to contain all the delicious juices. El Discipulo Chimi brings this authentic, quintessential taste of the Dominican Republic street food experience directly to the New York City borough of the Bronx, making it a reliable destination for a nostalgic and filling meal.
Beyond its specialty, the restaurant embodies the casual, quick-service spirit of fast food. It is recognized as a popular spot for both dinner and for those solo dining moments when you need a reliably tasty and quick meal. However, in the highly competitive and culturally vibrant food scene of the Bronx, especially within the Dominican cuisine niche, customer experience and service quality are paramount. While the focus remains on the food, prospective patrons should note that, according to direct customer feedback, the establishment has recently received critical commentary concerning service interactions, including allegations of rudeness, inconsistency in portions (such as the missing longaniza from a fried platter), and issues regarding the equitable provision and charging for extra components like the famed pink sauce. As a local business, addressing and resolving such critical feedback is essential for maintaining a positive reputation within the community it serves.
In sum, El Discipulo Chimi offers a unique and authentic fast food choice, providing the community with a taste of Dominican tradition that is both satisfying and affordable. The business thrives on offering accessibility and speed, particularly in fulfilling those essential late-night cravings that characterize true New York City fast-food culture.

What is Worth Choosing
For local New Yorkers and visitors to the Bronx, El Discipulo Chimi presents a compelling choice primarily centered on its specialized, authentic cuisine and its crucial role in serving the late-night crowd. The top reason to choose this spot is to experience the authentic Dominican "Chimi" sandwich, a deeply flavorful, culture-specific alternative to the standard American burger. The thin, heavily seasoned meat patty, the unique texture provided by the cabbage slaw, and the tangy, often secret-recipe salsa golf (pink sauce) come together to offer a robust and deeply satisfying fast-food experience that feels genuinely local and rooted in tradition. This is not just a burger joint; it's a window into Dominican street-food culture.
Furthermore, the designation as a reliable source of late-night food means El Discipulo Chimi is an invaluable option when hunger strikes after most conventional restaurants have closed. Its operational model, focused on quick bites, ensures minimal wait times, making it an efficient stop for a speedy dinner or a late-hour snack before heading home.
However, potential patrons must be informed about the non-culinary aspects of the dining experience, as indicated by recent customer feedback. The reviews highlight instances of reported challenges with customer service, including allegations of discriminatory behavior related to the pink sauce and reported inaccuracies in order fulfillment, such as missing items from platters like frituras. These incidents suggest a need for improved customer relations and operational consistency within the establishment.
For the discerning consumer, the choice hinges on priorities: if the craving for an authentic, high-quality chimi, late at night, outweighs concerns regarding service consistency and potential customer interactions, El Discipulo Chimi offers a truly unique culinary reward. Its specialization in Dominican fare, particularly the chimi burger, solidifies its position as a cultural and gastronomic staple in the Bronx fast-food landscape.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1RACIST SERVICE.The food is good but they are funny over here with the pink sauce and not in a good way. Every time we ask for extra pink sauce besides the 1 they give us per sandwich we get dirty looks, oh it’s more money this and that. Meanwhile I have seen the same lady give an entire bottle of pink sauce to another Dominican man to put on his sandwich. But me and my wife get charged extra and get given dirty looks just for asking? No thanks - never again. Better places to get chimi than here…..
February 06 · Jay DineroMake sure your order is complete ! I Ordered a $25 plate with oreja, cheese, chicharrón and longaniza, somehow didn’t get the longaniza. When I went to tell her she didn’t give me the longaniza she laughed and said I had ate it without noticing, I told her no I never got it and she even claimed my gf ate them and probably ain’t share it with me. When I was the one to separate the food to begin with. She was rude and then I had remember I took a picture for Instagram and there was the prove I never got the longaniza! She gave it to me after in a bad mood !
