Buffet restaurant, Deli ★3.0 (58)·$10–20

100 Broad St, New York, NY 10004, USA

3.0
The food is good, but it's PROFOUNDLY overpriced. We went in twice, and both times my wife noticed the cashier weighed our bottled water along with the food. My wife was too nice to tell me, because I would have told the cashier to eat the food herself. We ate at a similarly styled restaurant in Herald Square for 1/2 the price.By my estimation, each bottled water added $15.59 to the bill. The place is a scam. Stay away! There are tons of better places in walking distance. Expect this place to go away in the near future. - Bill Jones, Jr.

What is Worth Choosing

When considering a visit to Essen Fast Slow Food, the primary appeal lies in the sheer variety and the convenience of the buffet model. The ability to create a custom plate from a vast array of hot and cold items is the main draw. For a quick and customizable lunch, the buffet is where you will find the most value. You can combine different proteins, vegetables, and sides to fit your specific taste and dietary needs. This is particularly useful for those who prefer to eat a little of everything rather than a single large dish.

Similarly, the a la carte **Sushi Rolls**, such as the **California Roll** or **Avocado Roll**, provide a straightforward and classic option. For a busy New Yorker who needs a quick, no-frills meal with a lot of variety, Essen's central location and self-service model make it a practical and accessible option. It is best to approach Essen with a clear idea of what you want to eat and to be mindful of the pricing structure, which is typical for buffets of this style in the city.
