For the main course, the seafood dishes are a definite highlight. The Spaghetti Con Le Sarde is a classic Sicilian pasta dish that truly represents the region's cuisine, and the Salmone Grigliato, with its delicious sauce, has been a favorite among customers. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Pasta was just bland. Pesto didn’t taste like it had any nuts or cheese in it, very watery. We added salt to help but the Gnocchi just tasted like nothing. Wife felt the same about her pasta alla Norma. Tomato sauce still tasted like it was straight out of the can barely developed on the stove or incorporated with the eggplant. It just felt rushed and hap hazard. Don’t advertise yourself as Sicilian if your pasta alla Norma is just blah. Not cheap pricing and nothing on the menu was homemade either. I mean if we were in an airport or Cleveland it would be acceptable or good, but in the west village the standards are higher. There’s plenty of home made pasta spots that charge $10 less per dish that are way better. Cool spot to sit outdoors but not impressed with the food. Not the fastest service either and table wobbled. Bread was pretty good.
September 06 · Charles KealyWe stopped by Ficuzza on Sunday during Pride. The restaurant had a calm, relaxed vibe, and we enjoyed a nice view of the street from the patio. Our server, Fidel, was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. The food was fantastic! We started with the Fritto Misto di Mare, which was perfectly crunchy and fresh. Then we tried the Salmon and the Sardina Spaghetto — the salmon sauce was absolutely delicious, I couldn’t get enough of it!To finish, we grabbed a gelato from their gelato shop — such a treat, truly delicious! We also had the pleasure of meeting Chef Niccola, who came to our table. He was so professional and kind — it really showed how much care goes into this place.Thank you to the entire staff for such an amazing experience! We’ll definitely be back.
July 01 · Maria José Guillén VFicuzza is another great Italian joint in the West Village. They offer complimentary bread at the beginning of the meal, which was a pleasant surprise! A rarity nowadays. They appear to be half-pastry shop, half-restaurant, so it is no surprise that their breads were phenomenal. The Margherita pizza is one of my favorites in NYC: light, but present tomato sauce, mild and stretchy mozzarella, chewy and charred crust. The rigatoni alla norma was solid. The oil soaked eggplant added a nice texture and fatty flavor to the dish. The noodles were a little too al dente for my taste, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. The service staff are attentive without being overbearing. I’ll be back! And next time, I’ll save room for dessert.
March 12 · Kana HiguchiHad a wonderful meal here. Choose to take myself on a self date. Had a main dish, dessert, 2 glasses of wine, and a coffee. The service from the bar staff was unmatched and the food delicious. The dessert especially was incredible. Highly recommend!
April 15 · Kyle JensenFidel was an outstanding server and truly went out of his way to make our anniversary special. He was attentive, friendly, and easy to converse with, all while staying organized with his tables and even helping his coworkers balance the floor. He really made us feel taken care of, and his service deserves recognition a raise wouldn’t be out of place. The food was delicious overall: we shared the cheese and meats platter and a spicy salami pizza, both of which were a perfect 10/10. My pasta, however, was closer to a 7/10. Still, Fidel’s service made the evening memorable and elevated the experience.
