Flora Café Introduce
For New Jersey residents traveling out of Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), finding a quality, full-service dining option is often a challenge easily solved by **Flora Café**. Located within the bustling environment of Terminal C, Flora Café is not simply a quick-stop counter, but a comprehensive dining experience. It proudly operates under the categories of **Restaurant**, **Cafe**, and even **Fine dining restaurant**, aiming to provide a substantial, sit-down meal with an extensive menu that caters to all parts of the day.
The culinary philosophy is ambitious, reflected in a menu that spans **Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert**—a true all-day amenity for the modern traveler. This is a place where you can find robust, premium **Entrees** like the **Grilled Lamb** ($$39.99$) and the classic **Steak Frites** ($$36.99$), or lighter but equally satisfying protein dishes like the **Oven Roasted Salmon** ($$32.99$) and **Trout A La Plancha** ($$32.99$). The presence of high-value items, coupled with the fine dining designation, underscores the expectation of a premium experience, setting it apart from standard airport fare.
The dining options extend far beyond the main courses. Appetizers are varied, offering selections such as **Crispy Artichokes** ($$14.00$) and **Crispy Calamari** ($$19.99$). Furthermore, the breakfast menu is a major highlight, essential for those early morning New Jersey departures. Passengers can choose from specialized **Breakfast Plates** like the savory **Ham And Egg Tartine** ($$16.99$), the sweet **Nutella Belgian Waffle** ($$16.99$), or even build their perfect start with a **Build Your Own Omelette** ($$13.99$) and a side of **Chicken Sausage** ($$7.59$) or **Breakfast Potatoes** ($$5.99$).
A critical feature that elevates Flora Café's standing within the terminal is the presence of a full **Bar onsite**, offering a full selection of **Alcohol, Beer, Cocktails, and Wine**. This amenity allows travelers to enjoy a relaxing drink and a small plate before their flight, serving a practical need that few airport spots fully address. The atmosphere is generally described as **Casual**, catering efficiently to the high volume of transient **Tourists** and business flyers, and it is notably **Popular for** **Solo dining**, allowing for quick, private, and uninterrupted meals.
Flora Café is strategically located within the secured boarding area of Newark Liberty International Airport, positioning it directly in the path of departing and connecting passengers.
The exact location is:
Terminal C, Brewster Rd, Newark, NJ 07114
Being an integral part of the EWR Terminal C infrastructure, the restaurant meets all mandatory federal accessibility standards, ensuring comfortable access for all New Jersey travelers. This commitment is highlighted by the presence of a **Wheelchair accessible entrance** and dedicated **Wheelchair accessible seating**. These provisions guarantee that all patrons, including those with limited mobility, can utilize the full range of dining and beverage services without difficulty, promoting an inclusive environment for a diverse traveling public.
Understanding the tight timelines and varying needs of airport travelers, Flora Café provides flexible service options to maximize customer convenience:
- **Dine-in:** The core service mode, inviting patrons to sit, relax, and enjoy the full menu offerings and bar service in a dedicated space.
- **Takeout:** An efficient option for those rushing to a gate, allowing for quick retrieval of prepared items like a **Breakfast Sandwich** ($$14.29$) or one of the **Salads**.
- **Delivery:** This service is often integrated into the terminal's technology platform, providing the capability for travelers to have their food delivered to their specific gate area within the terminal.
The restaurant’s operational efficiency is highlighted by its self-proclaimed **Fast service**, a necessary feature for an environment where every minute counts for the customer.
Flora Café's distinct features are designed to create a premium and accommodating dining experience within the EWR terminal:
- **Full Beverage Service:** The amenity of a **Bar onsite** with full selections of **Cocktails, Beer, Wine, and Alcohol** provides a crucial opportunity for relaxation before a flight.
- **All-Day Menu Depth:** The menu offers comprehensive choices across all mealtimes, from gourmet **Entrees** to accessible **Sandwiches** and tempting **Desserts** like **Apple Crumb Pie** ($$9.99$).
- **Focus on Quick and Quality Coffee:** The emphasis on providing **Great coffee** acknowledges the essential role of a high-quality, quick caffeine fix for travelers.
- **Dietary and Healthy Options:** The menu is inclusive, featuring **Healthy options** (such as the customer-reviewed kale salad) and explicit **Vegetarian options**, alongside convenient **Quick bite** and **Small plates**.
- **Family Accommodations:** The establishment is designated as **Good for kids**, and supports this with a simplified, crowd-pleasing **Kids' menu** offering items like **Kids Chicken Fingers** ($$12.29$).
- **Seamless Payment Methods:** Customers can transact easily using **Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments**, ensuring a modern and quick checkout.
- **Loyalty Program Benefit:** A key financial benefit reported by customers is the potential for a **discount (I think 10-20%?)** for **United Chase card holders**, offering a significant value proposition for frequent EWR flyers.

The value proposition of Flora Café for the New Jersey traveler is clearly defined by its function as a premium, amenity-rich destination in a highly restricted environment. **What is genuinely worth choosing here is the expansive, full-service capability, especially the full Bar onsite.** This is the place to be if you have a long layover, require a substantial, multi-course meal like the **Grilled Lamb** or **Steak Frites**, and want the option of a cocktail or a glass of **Wine**—services that few other terminal spots offer with this level of menu depth.
However, a factual and professional assessment requires balancing this against the consistent, negative customer feedback. The overwhelming sentiment is that the restaurant's high prices are not justified by the quality, with reports of **horrible tasting food**, **cold and hard** dishes, and excessively **small portions** relative to the cost. The most significant concern, which directly affects the traveler experience, is the reported **disgusting service**, where staff are accused of prioritizing tips over basic greeting and attendance.
Therefore, **the choice to dine at Flora Café should be a strategic one.** It is best suited for travelers who: **1) Are prioritized on the full bar and premium dining experience over value and service quality; 2) Can take advantage of the reported United Chase card discount** to mitigate the elevated prices; and **3) Acknowledge the high likelihood of receiving poor service and inconsistent food temperature**, a documented issue endemic to this specific airport concession. If speed, low cost, or high customer service are your primary needs, other terminal options should be explored.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Horrible overpriced food with disgusting service. I don’t understand how this is ok. Nobody greets you or talks to you but they sure want TIPS. Do not TIP on the website it would be better to order in person, so you tip accordingly.Very small portion for 30 bucks pasta and horrible tasting food as well. Food was cold and hard. Most places at EWR are overpriced and bad so not much difference from the rest.No place to charge your phone either anywhere while you wait for the bad food.If they want to charge these prices they better have above and beyond food and service, sadly we are stuck with no options. Airport needs to fix these prices and services.
August 18 · Marty McflyI got a kale salad with dates and halloumi and almonds topped with salmon. It was slightly overdressed but pretty tasty! You can get a discount (I think 10-20%?) if you are a United Chase card holder.
September 14 · Sarah KruttschnittLamb burger was extremely dry. No cheese, no pickles, no sauceBaba ganoush reminded of hummus and just a little eggplant.Brussel sprouts were too dry.The food wasn’t flavored and it was extremely dry. It’s just not it. Service was ok. Even tho they include tips without asking you…I won’t recommend
February 11 · Sofya MikhailavaWe waited around 40 minutes for food. Hard to beat when you've been traveling the better part of 24 hours from Europe. My husband got a burger and fries with no cheese but it came with cheese. You have to see the pic I've posted to see what a joke the added onion was. The fries were the typical packaged fries and the burger wasn't anything too special not taste like lamb. My order came out maybe 5 minutes later even though we got the order all at the same time and I had only ordered the fries, though not the typical packaged crinkle cut, wasn't much special about them at all. Music was so loud I could barely hear and it drowned out flight information. Lots of dirty tables. 50 bucks for that, no thanks, I'll pick up a packaged snack from CIBO and wait til I get home next time.
June 23 · Vanessa DredgerThe food was enjoyable, the server did a great job on my drinks, it was small things in my service and how the managers switched coverage two times during my meal. I'd also recommend a menu posted at the entrance; using the QR code is no big deal but just so we know what to expect.
