For New Yorkers exploring Jireh’s extensive menu, the most worthwhile choices are the dishes that highlight the restaurant's authentic Guatemalan identity and its exceptional daily value.
First and foremost, you should focus on the Daily Specials (Lunes through Domingo). These rotating plates, which are incredibly affordable and served with rice and beans, represent the heart of Guatemalan home cooking. Look for items like Pipian de Pollo (available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) or Hilacha de Res (available on Tuesday and Friday). These stews are rich, deeply flavored, and a true culinary journey. The Saturday and Sunday menus are particularly exciting, featuring traditional soups like Sopa De Mondongo (Tripe Soup) and the highly traditional Sopa De Gallina (Hen Soup), often considered a staple of weekend cooking.
Next, explore the Antojitos (Delicious Appetizers) for a quick, flavorful snack. Specifically, try the Tamales or the Chuchitos (small, savory tamales). These are a staple of Central American cuisine and Jireh’s preparation, sometimes offered deep-fried (Chuchitos Dorados), is known for its authentic preparation and rich flavor. The sweet plantain options, such as Rellenitos (sweet plantain turnovers), are also highly recommended for a traditional dessert or snack.
For a classic Latin American meal available any day, the Almuerzo (Lunch) plates served with rice and beans are a phenomenal choice. The Carne Asada (Grilled Steak) or the various fish options like Mojarra Frita (Fried Tilapia) and Salmon Asado (Grilled Salmon) provide generous and fulfilling plates that cater to diverse tastes.
Finally, for a simple, refreshing complement to any meal, be sure to choose one of the Natural Drinks (Bebidas Naturales), such as the creamy Horchata or the tart Tamarindo. These house-made beverages are a perfect, authentic pairing for the robust flavors of the main courses. Choosing Jireh means opting for authentic flavors, generous portions, and an affordability that is hard to beat in the demanding New York food scene.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Take heed what the people reviewing here with their receipts are telling you! This place (and the owner literally said it as a reply to a review) has on their menu prices are subject to change WITHOUT prior notice. So they will charge you whatever they want. Heck no
May 20 · MidnightLadyCrowI wanted to give the local business here a try for breakfast. Asked the girl in front for the $4 french toast special and made sure she understood it was the $4 french toast, hashbrown and bacon. The meal was fine, your basic breakfast. However, when I went to pay she charged me $11. $11 for french toast, hashbrowns, and bacon. I asked her why it was $11 and not $4 and she laughed and shook her head "no". Mind you, there is nothing on the breakfast menu that is $11. Not on google, not on their physical menu.First, I want to say I never leave reviews unless I felt like I was being cheated. If your menu changed and it was no longer $4, I understand but please let your customer know ahead of time. Don't just pretend like I didn't specifically ask for the $4 french toast special. It's truly not about the money. If you were transparent and told me it was $11 to begin with, fine. But she didn't. I paid the $11 and asked for the receipt, isn't it weird how there isnt even a description for what I ordered?I paid the $11 that you so desperately wanted to overcharge for the price of the regular breakfast food but just know that you will never see me here again. Stay over from this place bc they will overcharge you for no reason.
February 20 · Carrie LiI like this deli-restaurant. They have a good menu and all the time everting is fresh because they are really busy
June 17 · One MillionTheir food is to die for all I enjoyed it so much
September 15 · kiki2973I love this place. The food is fresh & plentiful. The service is friendly. It's like going to your family members. The salmon is fantastic. The soups are fresh. They have a viewing hot station. Whatever you order is plentiful. Prices are reasonable. Not the fanciest place, but the food is delicious & priced right!
