What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Ajimi is worthwhile for New Yorkers because it delivers an expansive, high-quality Japanese dining experience in a lively, convenient Brooklyn setting. The restaurant’s greatest strength lies in its rich, flavorful ramen broth, which customers consistently praise as being deep and authentic. Specialties like the Ajimi Kuro (black garlic oil ramen) offer a distinctive, must-try flavor that separates it from standard ramen spots across the city.
However, patrons should be aware of a few key considerations based on customer feedback. While the ramen broth is highly lauded, some reviews mention that the ramen noodle portions are small relative to the price point (in the $13.50−$16.50 range). Customers often feel they need to order appetizers to feel fully satisfied, which naturally increases the total bill. Additionally, the restaurant is known to be a Cash only establishment, which is important for any New Yorker planning a visit, as credit/debit cards are not always accepted for payment.
Despite the portion size and payment policies, the variety of offerings—from the exciting Experimental Menu (try the Shishito Peppers or Scallop Kushiyaki) to the full bar and lively Trendy atmosphere—makes it an excellent choice for a complete night out. If you are seeking top-tier ramen broth and a fun, versatile spot that offers delicious Japanese small plates and even a game of pool, Ajimi is certainly a destination worth adding to your Brooklyn rotation. It’s an ideal place for both a quick meal and a social evening, provided you come prepared with cash and an appetite for varied Japanese fare.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My boyfriend and I went to this ramen restaurant, and we had a really good experience. The place was clean, the service was fast, and the staff was very friendly. It felt welcoming as soon as we walked in. The menu had a lot of options, and everything was affordable, which was great. We ordered ramen, fried rice, and teriyaki, and everything tasted amazing. The ramen was hot and flavorful, with a rich broth and perfectly cooked noodles. The fried rice was well-seasoned and had a nice texture, not too oily or dry. The teriyaki was tender and had a sweet, savory sauce that made every bite delicious.we didn’t have to wait long for our food. The portions were generous, and we left feeling full and satisfied. Overall, it was a great experience. The food was tasty, the service was excellent, and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone looking for good ramen and Japanese food.
March 22 · Ana ZhengTasty ramen but a deliberate rip-off due to small serving size!Good flavor for their ramen broth though, reduced to achieve the flavors needed for a rich umami broth. The ramen noodle portions are small, which has been consistently underwhelming during my 4 plus visits here. Still, I return because the broth is good. The slow cooked pork belly did not have a rich taste and seemed like it had been boiled in liquid rather than slow braised, so it lacked the rich flavor. They torch-char it before serving which seemed unimpressive. I would have preferred a richer taste without the obvious hand-torch-charThe noodles were satisfying and chewy. The black garlic oil ramen is a must-try......Unfortunately my experience with the wait staff and servers have been disappointing. They are unwelcoming and outright unfriendly. A server even spilled the ramen on my lap while placing it down during one of my visits there and did not even act like they cared much. They only accept cash and will refuse credit card payments, yet they apply a tax charge onto the bill at the end of the meal which I am sure most can guess where that goes. The ramen dishes are priced $13.50-$16.50 (2025 prices), yet their portion sizes are small, which seems to warrant a price of 11, or 12 dollars, yet they still serve small portions compared to other ramen places. In other words, if you order only ramen for yourself you'll be expected to pay nearly 20 dollars for your meal with tax and tip. And while 20 dollars is not a lot for a satisfying bowl of ramen- you'll certainly agree that you'd want the right amount of soup and noodles.
June 11 · B. SaszareThe restaurant is located in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. They prepare Japanese cuisine. They have a limited menu consisting of various yakitori(skewer), appetizers, salads, sashimi, ramen and drinks. I ordered the ajimi kuro which is a ramen with black garlic oil, poached egg, chashu, onion, scallion and bamboo shoots. It was good and flavorful. The takoyaki appetizer were six small octopus balls topped with sauce and bonito. The restaurant is cash-only. Friendly and helpful staff.
April 10 · Steven NechamkinAmazing food, reasonable price. No idea why it's underrated. Very calm place , great for dates, especially on weekdays. Chill ambient music playing on background. Definitely recommend
September 08 · Vahe MatshkalyanNice hole in the wall Ramen spot. Located across from the d train stop, nice place to grab food after a long day. Spicy veggie Ramen was delicious and well flavored. Staff was very nice and the restaurant was really well designed. Definitely recommend.
