The name itself, which translates to "Kimchayul's Masterpiece Galbi" or "Premium Galbi," is a clear declaration of the restaurant's focus: delivering high-quality, expertly prepared Korean barbecue, particularly their signature *Galbi* (beef ribs).
More than just a Korean BBQ spot, this restaurant offers an incredibly expansive menu that successfully blends the interactive enjoyment of tabletop grilling with a mastery of complex, traditional Korean specialty dishes, known as *Jjim* (braised/steamed) and *Jungol* (casseroles). This dual expertise makes it a versatile venue popular for both a quick Lunch and a celebratory Dinner. The comprehensive menu, which spans from high-grade **Black Angus Prime Beef Ribs BBQ** to elaborate **Maewoon Galbi Jjim** (Spicy Braised Short Ribs), ensures there is an authentic, comforting dish for every palate.
The atmosphere at Kimchayul's is defined as comfortably Casual, making it an ideal gathering spot for **Groups**. Furthermore, the establishment is equipped for the modern New York lifestyle, offering a robust suite of service options including **Curbside pickup**, **Delivery**, and **Takeout**, alongside the traditional Dine-in experience. While the restaurant clearly aims for, and often achieves, excellence—boasting features like **Fast service** and a complete **Alcohol** offering—patrons should be aware that the high volume of business sometimes leads to service fluctuations, as noted in mixed customer feedback regarding attentiveness and wait times. However, for those seeking authentic Korean flavor and premium ingredients, the culinary offerings remain a powerful draw.

The true draw of Kimchayul's Myung Poom Galbi lies in the depth and quality of its specialized Korean menu, which goes well beyond a typical neighborhood restaurant.
- Premium Black Angus BBQ: The menu features high-end cuts, including the **Black Angus Prime Beef Ribs BBQ** ($49.95) in both marinated and unmarinated thick-cut varieties. This focus on premium beef distinguishes it from basic BBQ spots, justifying its "Myung Poom" (Masterpiece) title.
- Specialty *Jjim* and *Jungol* Mastery: A major highlight is the extensive list of **Special Dishes / 명품 솜씨자랑** (Masterpiece Skills Showcase). These include complex, traditional items like **Maewoon Galbi Jjim** (Spicy Braised Short Ribs), **Agoo Jjim** (Braised Monkfish), and large-format casseroles like **Haemul Jungol** (Seafood Casserole) and **Beef Intestine Casserole**, appealing to diners seeking authentic, specialized Korean cuisine.
- **Authentic Noodle Endings:** The offering of *Hamheung Naeng Myun* (Cold Noodles) in varieties like **Mul Naeng Myun** (broth) and **HWE Naeng Myun** (spicy raw fish) is a crucial feature. Cold noodles are the traditional, refreshing palate cleanser and perfect finisher to a rich Korean BBQ meal, completing the authentic experience.
- **Versatile Meal Options (*Siksayu*):** Beyond BBQ, the restaurant provides a vast selection of single-serving stews and soups, such as **Galbitang** (Beef Short Rib Soup), **Soondooboo** (Soft Tofu Soup), and **Yookgyejang** (Spicy Beef Soup), making it an excellent choice for satisfying lunch specials.
- **The Social Experience:** The **Casual** atmosphere and large tables make it perfect for **Groups**, facilitating the communal and interactive nature of Korean BBQ and large-format casseroles, which is highly valued by New York's diverse community.

Choosing Kimchayul's Myung Poom Galbi is a decision to prioritize high-quality ingredients and the breadth of traditional Korean culinary art. For the New York local, this restaurant offers a complete and authentic experience that few others can match.
The absolute highlight is the **Black Angus Prime Beef Ribs BBQ** ($49.95). When visiting, selecting one of the premium *Galbi* options, such as the signature **Marinated Thick Cut Black Angus Beef** or the unmarinated counterpart, is essential to experience the restaurant’s namesake "Masterpiece" quality. This commitment to superior beef cuts ensures a tender, flavorful grilling experience that stands up against the best in NYC. Following the grilled meat, the traditional ritual of ordering **Mul Naeng Myun** is highly recommended to cut the richness and provide a final, satisfying coolness.
Beyond the barbecue, what is truly worth choosing are the complex, multi-layered dishes found under the **Special Dishes** and **Casserole** sections. These items represent a deeper level of Korean cooking skill. The **Maewoon Galbi Jjim** (Spicy Braised Short Ribs) is a must-try for its rich flavor and tenderness, and the communal experience of the **Haemul Jungol** (Seafood Casserole, $64.95) or the specialty **Beef Intestine Casserole** ($59.95) makes for a perfect, engaging dinner with **Groups**. These dishes are less common than basic BBQ and provide a window into sophisticated Korean comfort food.
Finally, the restaurant’s versatility is a key reason for choosing it. Whether you need a quick, hearty bowl of **Galbitang** for a solo lunch or an elaborate BBQ feast for a party, the menu covers all needs. However, patrons should note the service volatility mentioned in the reviews (e.g., waiting "over an hour for COLD noodles" and "terrible service"). The choice here is a trade-off: you are choosing a place with an undeniably rich and high-quality menu, but one that may require patience, particularly during busy periods, to fully enjoy its Masterpiece Ribs and specialty stews.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Honestly quite disgusted we waited over an hour for COLD noodles and one serving of galbi made in the kitchen not even at our table and we waited forever then asking where the service of rice and soup for the meat was the lady yelled at my mom saying they gave us more noodles in our cold noodles??? I’m confused if they want to be lazy then don’t do a service job. And on top of that waiting for an hour with noodles that take 5 minutes to make and galbi cooked on a hot plate the meat was barely cooked. If you want good service and food this is not the place to come. I wouldn’t have wrote this if the countless times we came we didn’t also get terrible service always slow and inattentive service.
July 20 · Rebecca bI have been to a lot of Korean BBQ place, but this one is special for me for 2 reasons:1- I’m with my Korean friends, who can teach me how to eat like Korean.2- the special leaves is really for my liking.Good sake bomb, friends and good laughs, with cold noodles and mustard to finish off the meal, a great experience!
May 18 · Mark LingKind. Good food. Buy two get one free for bbq of duck, pork and chadol.
April 22 · Paul Yoomeat quality went down drastically after they started doing buy 2 get 1 free. the galbi is not on this promo but still the gabi meat was incredibly subpar compared to what was served before. they do not give you the side of soy crab that always came with the galbi.
July 27 · DHBbq is not bad. I was told by the waitress that cooked the meat that they use prime grade beef. it might seem pricy at first but there is good value here from free cold noodles per order of meat, great variety of banchan, and authentic atmosphere(good service). Bring a Korean friend and there shouldn't be any worries regarding ordering and translation. My family of 4 spent $60 per person: 4 order of meat, rice, a lot of banchan (they filled the table) soybean soup(which was free), and cold noodles at the end (also free).Big downside, there is no parking. My family walked a few blocks, as we live in the neighborhood.
