What is Worth Choosing 🔥
For a first-time visitor or a New Yorker looking for the very best of Kolapata's authentic Bangladeshi cuisine, three selections offer a perfect introduction to the restaurant's quality and range:
1. Morog Polao ($14.99): This is arguably the most essential "House Special." Morog Polao is a celebratory, aromatic rice dish made with chicken and a rich blend of fragrant spices, yogurt, and ghee. It's the dish that earns praise from patrons who claim it's better than their regular spot, confirming its authentic and deeply satisfying flavor profile. Choosing this offers a true taste of traditional Bengali comfort and occasion food.
2. Lamb Chop - 4 Pcs ($14.99): This item from the Kolapata Special Grill section is a clear highlight, having been singled out by a customer as one of the best they have tasted. Served in a generous four-piece portion, the Lamb Chops are expertly marinated and grilled, providing a juicy, smoky, and tender experience that elevates the meal beyond curry-and-rice.
3. Special Bhuna Khichuri ($15.99): Perfect for a cold or rainy day (or simply when you crave ultimate comfort), this is a drier, richer version of the classic lentil-and-rice porridge. It's a staple in Bengali cuisine, known for its hearty texture and deep flavor imparted by spices, ghee, and roasted lentils. Pairing this Bhuna Khichuri with a side of Deem Bhorta (Mashed Egg) or Aloo Bhortha (Mashed Potato) makes for an incredibly authentic and soul-satisfying meal that showcases the 'homey' quality Kolapata is famous for.

August 02 · Wacef ChowdhuryHorrible food service. The quantity is so small. I ordered shrimp bhuna $12 I only got few shrimps. The bowl was almost empty. Please don’t waste your money here.i ordered through uber eats. They didn’t help either. Never again. And none of the orders came with rice. It’s a rip off.
July 07 · Cherry RedOrder take out and the roast was so small I have compared it to a salad for $9 it’s super expensive and for $17 biryani it’s so small. Flavor is better than most Bengali restaurants for the roast , I wish biryani had more flavor a littleOn bland side. They do follow instructions so glad about that but next time someone pays $32 please add a bigger price of roast
October 04 · Bade LogKolapata has one of the best Bangladeshi cuisine I have ever had. All items that we ordered were aromatic with an authentic taste. The staff are also very friendly, and accomodating. One of the staff, Thanvir, came to us to check if everything was ok or not. In short, this restaurant had well-tasting cuisine and great customer service. Highly recommended.
