Konditori Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the heart of Brooklyn's vibrant Park Slope neighborhood, Konditori stands out as a unique and beloved local coffee shop. More than just a place to grab a quick caffeine fix, Konditori offers a slice of Scandinavian tradition right here in New York. The name "Konditori" is a Swedish word for a type of coffeehouse, and this establishment lives up to its namesake by specializing in a strong, expertly brewed Swedish Roast coffee paired with a delightful selection of baked goods, including authentic Swedish pastries.
Opened in 2010, the original Park Slope location quickly became a neighborhood essential, starting what has been described as the "Konditori craze" in the area. It perfectly blends a cozy, community-focused atmosphere with a trendy, modern sensibility, attracting a diverse crowd of locals and college students. While the emphasis remains on its exceptional coffee, the menu has expanded over the years to fully cater to the demanding palate of New Yorkers, offering a wide array of breakfast, lunch, and snack options. Whether you're a devoted coffee enthusiast, a fan of authentic Scandinavian treats, or simply looking for a relaxed spot to start your day or get some work done, Konditori offers a warm and welcoming environment. It is praised for its great coffee, great desserts, and friendly service, establishing itself as a go-to destination on 5th Avenue.
Location and Accessibility
The primary Konditori location that serves as the heart of its operation is conveniently situated in the sought-after Park Slope section of Brooklyn. This location is nestled on the bustling 5th Avenue, an area known for its lively mix of boutiques, restaurants, and local cafes. The specific address is 187 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA. For those familiar with the neighborhood, the shop is located near the corner of Sackett and Berkeley Place Street, making it easy to find and access.
For patrons traveling via public transportation, the coffee shop is well-served by numerous subway lines and bus routes connecting to different parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Given its prime position on 5th Avenue, accessibility is a key feature for daily commuters and neighborhood residents alike.
For those with mobility needs, the establishment prioritizes inclusivity, offering a wheelchair-accessible entrance. While the area is a busy commercial district, paid street parking is typically available, though as with most New York City locations, it can be competitive. The convenience of this spot means it’s a great central meeting favorite for the community, right on one of Park Slope's most popular avenues.

Features / Highlights
Konditori in Park Slope is celebrated by its patrons and the wider Brooklyn community for several standout attributes that contribute to its success and appeal as a neighborhood hub.
- Authentic Swedish Influence: The cafe is co-owned by a Swede, ensuring the authenticity of the Swedish Roast coffee preparation, which is fresh-pressed for a superior, stronger flavor, and the traditional Swedish pastries like the Cocoballs and the highly sought-after Cardamom Brod (Cardamom Bread with Marzipan filling). This offers a distinct experience rarely found elsewhere in New York.
- Exceptional Coffee Quality: The core offering is its great coffee, which uses a carefully selected blend of high-quality Arabic beans from Central America. The dedication to a longer, fresh-press brewing process results in a remarkably rich and flavorful cup that regulars rave about.
- Cozy and Trendy Atmosphere: The interior is described as having a casual, cozy, and trendy vibe. It’s a comfortable gathering spot that makes it easy for patrons to meet up with friends or simply relax, contrasting with the fast-paced nature of much of the city. The space is particularly popular with locals and college students.
- Menu Versatility: Beyond the Swedish staples, the cafe offers a diverse menu that covers all essential cafe needs, from a strong quick bite to a satisfying breakfast or a treat for dessert. The menu balances classic NYC favorites, such as bagels and creative breakfast sandwiches like the Game Over, with high-quality baked goods and healthy options like gluten-free muffins.
- Great Dessert Selection: The wide range of pastries, muffins (both regular and gluten-free), and Swedish chocolate items ensures there's always a perfect treat to accompany any coffee or tea, solidifying its reputation for great dessert.
- Good for Working: The comfortable, welcoming setting, coupled with the availability of Wi-Fi, makes Konditori a popular spot for working on a laptop, though seating can be limited during peak hours.

What is Worth Choosing
If you're making your first visit to Konditori in Park Slope, or if you're a local looking to try something new, a few menu items truly embody the spirit and quality of the cafe. The absolute must-try is the Swedish Roast Drip Coffee, which is central to the Konditori experience. This strong, full-bodied coffee, prepared with their unique fresh-press method, is a significant departure from standard American coffee and is a true highlight that New Yorkers often crave. Pair this with an authentic Swedish Pastry. The Cardamom Brod (Cardamom Bread with Marzipan) is a highly recommended and traditional choice, perfect for dunking in your coffee as is the Swedish custom, or the rich and delightful Cocoballs (Swedish chocolate balls).
For a heartier start to your day, look no further than the breakfast sandwiches. The Game Over sandwich—a loaded bagel creation with bacon, egg, cheese, tomato, and jalapeño—comes highly recommended by customers for its perfect balance of savory, creamy, and spicy flavors. Alternatively, the fresh Plain Bagel and Everything Bagel options, served up in classic New York style, are a reliable choice for a quick and satisfying breakfast without the fuss. The extensive selection of specialty lattes, such as the well-balanced Maple Latte, also offers a sweeter twist on the coffee experience. Ultimately, what is worth choosing at Konditori is the combination of its expertly crafted great coffee and its distinctively Swedish treats, providing a refreshing and flavorful break from the everyday cafe scene in Brooklyn.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1So let’s start with the coffee, I started with a MAPLE LATTE WITH ALMOND MILK, it was great loved it, not too bitter not too sweet it was well balanced. My partner in crime had a CARAMEL LATTE WITH OATMILK, this thing was good but what set it apart was that it tasted like a Guinness with milk if you’ve ever had it… the thing was good. Now on to the Yum-Yums. I had a MIXED-BERRY SCONE and THE GAMEOVER SANDWICH. The scone was excellent 5/5, not too dry because of the berries juices creeping into the dough and had a flavor that just screamed spring is here and balanced well with the coffee. THE GAMEOVER SANDWICH is a bacon, egg n cheese with tomato, jalapeño and house sauce on a bagel of choice, has a nice little kick to it. 5/5. My partner in crime had a chocolate espresso coconut ball. (This thing was a YESSS keep them coming)Only qualms with my experience was the WiFi wasn’t working well, not really a their fault kind of situation, the bathroom was employees only and there space in the back that can be used for more seating.
May 01 · Patrick PriceVery good coffee.Great place to grab breakfast without the fuss.
April 25 · Adi DinerVegan strudel awesome!!!! Wish they served cinnamon bread (also vegan) by the slice with a cup of icing. Only sell the cinnamon bread by the loaf and I can’t eat (or carry) all that. First vegan strudel I’ve had in the nine years I’ve been vegan. Coming back tomorrow for more!
August 08 · Lara MooreKonditori Cafe is a gem! I had an iced coffee, and it was absolutely delicious.Their menu has a great variety, and the relaxed vibe makes it the perfect spot to unwind.Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Highly recommend!
December 03 · Marc-ElieThe 12oz drip coffee is $2! And it's really, really good. The best value in New York. The flavor has a bit of "brightness" to it, which I enjoy. And it's consistent across every cup.Equally remarkable on price, the cafe au lait is $2.50 and if you ask for a decaf drip, it’s also $2.50, and it's a pour over! And after 4:00 p.m., most of the pastries are $1, including the vegan muffins and delicious almond croissants. The bagels are excellent and the bags of day-old bagels near the register are an inexpensive way to contribute to a potluck gathering.Their bacon, egg and cheese wraps are a giant step above the bodega BEC and include an optional butter/ garlic sauce.Despite the corner location, massive floor-to-ceiling plate glass windows, soaring ceilings, exposed brick walls and generous use of wood, the space is strangely uninviting for lingering. A table blocks off the back third of the cafe, which is visible and used for storage. The sidewalk facing windows are occupied by a refrigerator for grab-and-go juices and an unused foosball table. With a little (no-cost) furniture rearranging, the atmosphere of this place would be great. With additional seating, it would be fantastic. Come on Konditori, bring this space up to its amazing potential!
