Finally checked this place out after about 2 years of hearing about it, and honestly, pretty disappointed. We started with the Korean Bulgogi appetizer—it wasn’t terrible, but had a weird medicinal taste, almost like it was marinated in something to cover up a smell. I ordered the Stir-Fried Beef with Noodles, and it was the biggest letdown. The noodles and sauce didn’t mix well at all, and it tasted more like Korean jaeyuk with cheese and noodles randomly thrown in—not a combo I’d try again.Others in my party had the King Ribs Jjamppong, Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup, and Seafood Kalguksu—everyone agreed they were pretty mid.The whole setup is self-service—you order at a kiosk, pick up your food, and return your own plates. That’s fine, but seeing a tip option on the kiosk was kind of ehh considering there's no service. Was excited to try this place, but overall it fell flat. Not planning on coming back. - WOOCHIKA

KOOKSOO Introduce

For those in search of a satisfying and authentic Korean meal in Fort Lee, KOOKSOO offers a unique and focused menu centered around one of Korea’s most beloved dishes: noodles. The name "Kooksoo" itself is the Korean word for noodles, and the restaurant embodies the tradition that sees long noodles as a symbol of celebration and long life. Unlike traditional Korean barbecue spots, KOOKSOO specializes in noodle soups and stir-fried noodle dishes, providing a comforting and hearty dining experience that has become a staple for many in the New Jersey area.

The restaurant operates on a fast-casual model, making it an excellent choice for a quick lunch, a convenient dinner, or a casual solo meal. The menu is built around signature items, with the Beef KOOKSOO and King Ribs Jjamppong standing out as customer favorites. While the core of the menu is noodles, the restaurant also offers a selection of appetizers and rice dishes, including Korean BBQ Bulgogi and LA Galbi, which complement the noodle offerings perfectly. The cozy and casual atmosphere provides a comfortable setting to enjoy these flavorful dishes, whether you're dining in or taking your meal to go.

KOOKSOO aims to bring the rich tradition of Korean noodle cuisine to a wider audience, focusing on fresh, quality ingredients and time-honored recipes. The broth for their soups, for instance, is a testament to this, with some simmering for over five hours to develop a deep, savory flavor. This commitment to traditional preparation, even in a fast-paced environment, is what makes KOOKSOO a destination for anyone craving authentic and delicious Korean comfort food in Fort Lee.

### What is Worth Choosing?

When you’re deciding on a place to eat in Fort Lee, KOOKSOO is a worthy choice for its unique and specialized menu. Instead of a broad range of Korean dishes, KOOKSOO hones in on what it does best: authentic, high-quality noodles. The flagship dish, the Beef KOOKSOO, is a must-try for any first-time visitor. This "best seller" is a flat noodle soup with beef and vegetables, and it perfectly encapsulates the rich, savory flavors that the restaurant is known for. The signature King Ribs Jjamppong, a spicy seafood noodle soup with king ribs, is another excellent option for those who enjoy a bit of heat and a robust flavor profile.

The dining experience at KOOKSOO is designed for modern convenience. The self-service kiosk ordering system allows for quick and efficient service, which is perfect for a quick lunch break or a straightforward dinner. While some diners have noted that this reduces the need for traditional service, it also means you can get your food fast and enjoy a meal without feeling pressured. This model, combined with the restaurant's cozy and casual ambiance, makes it a great spot for both solo dining and group outings.

Moreover, KOOKSOO's menu is more versatile than it may first appear. While noodles are the star, the inclusion of Korean BBQ dishes like LA Galbi and Bulgogi, as well as a variety of appetizers, ensures there’s something for everyone. The combo specials offer great value, allowing you to sample a bit of everything. Despite some mixed reviews on specific items and the self-service model, the consensus among many patrons is that the noodles themselves are fresh, the broth is flavorful, and the overall meal is satisfying. For a true taste of authentic Korean noodles in a fast-casual setting, KOOKSOO is a solid and reliable choice in Fort Lee.
