★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Typical family run Chinese takeout. I am trying different Chinese takeout out places in this area and try to support local businesses when I can.Aesthetically, there is a tiny front area to pick up and order food from. There was a single folding table that someone was eating at. The tiny strip parking lot was crowded with cars from other stores and the spaces were cramped. The picture-overhead menu was typical, with generic pictures of the plates - seemed dated but this is typical. The counter person took my order and was friendly.I ordered a half dozen dishes totaling over $40 as take out for 2 people. Food arrived quickly with barely a 10 minute wait.Shrimp Chow Fun: (not bad)most take out restaurants have a ‘browner’ sauce and usually heavier oil. This was a little bland by comparison but not bad. Vegetables were crisp and fresh, the rice noodles were not bloated and a little soy sauce to season to taste - as you like it is all that is required. ShrimpContent was adequate.Boneless Ribs: (solid!)A barometer for me, Some have a runny bbq sauce while others might make it too dry. I actually would rate this amongst the best as the sauce was not too heavy, and not runny. It was flavorful and the pork had a bit of a sear but not dry. I would recommend this over white rice.Wonton Soup:(recommended)The wontons were not mushy or bloated. The broth was savory and tasty. The scallions were a delicious touch. One of the better offerings in the area.Chicken with garlic sauce:(not bad)Vegetables were all crispy and fresh. The chicken was moist. The sauce was a little on the light side- could have had a little more bite for my taste but overall, a good dish.Hunan pork: (not bad)Similar overall review as with the Chicken with garlic sauce. Fresh and tasty, perhaps a little on the bland side but not bad overall.I would order from here again.
May 03 · Ken ChuOur usual Chinese restaurant was closed so we decided to try, them. The staff we're super friendly, the restaurant it's self is basically for take out. The food flavor was lacking a bit.
October 02 · Lisa SelaI ordered take out today from this Chinese restaurant . I ordered shrimp fried rice and chicken wings . The rice looked a little light and the shrimp didn’t look to much different as if neither were thoroughly cooked , the chicken wings I believe were old and weren’t properly cleaned because literally it looked as if they just broke wings off live chicken . The chicken wings had so many feather's it looked as if the chicken was just caughtt and cooked. When I arrived home ate most of my Chinese food because I was so hungry after skipping all meals . I hadn’t had anything after my morning coffee which is a norm for me .Within hours I got such excruciating pain and severe diarrhea . The pain was so intense that I literally almost fainted . If this continues I will be going to Urgent Care or the hospital . I was fine until I ate this food from this Kowloon House I actually saved a small amount of this food in case I need to go to Urgent Care or the ER. I have been back and forth to the bathroom with excruciating pain and diarrhea for the last couple of hours . I will not be ordering from this Chinese Restaurant again . I have never had this issue when eating Chinese food until today .
September 16 · Fran TOne of the most exceptional aspects of a truly remarkable Chinese restaurant lies in its ability to seamlessly blend tradition with innovation, offering a culinary experience that transcends mere sustenance. From the moment one enters, the atmosphere often reflects a thoughtful balance of cultural authenticity and modern elegance — red lanterns casting a warm glow over minimalist decor, the soft hum of conversation mixing with the clatter of woks in the kitchen. But it is the food that elevates the experience: delicately hand-folded dumplings bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced sauces that showcase the complexity of regional spices, and dishes like mapo tofu or Peking duck prepared with a level of precision and reverence that borders on artistry. The best Chinese places not only honor centuries-old recipes but also adapt them with creativity and refinement, resulting in a menu that delights both traditionalists and adventurous food lovers alike. Such establishments are not just restaurants — they are immersive journeys into the heart of a rich culinary heritage.
April 29 · MelissaProbably the freshest most perfect Chinese food I've had in my life. Ordered Fried Half Chicken Well Done with Shrimp Fried Rice and a Small Broccoli w side of white rice and it came hot, fresh, and fast. I also live in Haverstraw, usually order from the spots in Haverstraw but not anymore. This is best spot in town for me right now
