When you choose Maranatha Restaurant, you are choosing an authentic culinary experience centered on the rich tastes of Haiti. Their focus on the "Complete Plate" model, offering a hearty, satisfying meal, is highly popular among regulars and is a great entry point for first-time visitors. The complete plates typically include a choice of rice (such as the authentic Haitian rice and beans known as **Brown Rice Complete Plate** or **White Rice Complete Plate**), plantains, meat, and vegetables, all for a consistent price.
The most celebrated dishes, which are frequently mentioned in customer praise, include their various preparations of meat and starches. The **Fritaille Plate** is a must-try, offering a combo of fried Haitian delights such as fried akra, marinade (fried dumplings), choice of meat, plantains, and fresh greens. Customers consistently rave about the high quality of the fried meats, like **griot** (fried pork) and **fried wings**.
Another popular highlight, often enjoyed for its comforting quality, is the **Bouillon**. This Haitian beef stew is packed with vegetables like celery, potatoes, spinach, and dumplings, making it a warming and filling dish—though it’s advisable to call ahead as soups, including the special Sunday-only **Soup Joumou**, may not be available every day.
For those who love to customize or sample a little bit of everything, the **All you can eat** option is arguably the best value. This allows you to explore sides like **Beet Potato Salad**, **Legume** (Haitian mashed vegetables), and different rice and bean preparations. A note for all newcomers: a true Haitian meal is often incomplete without **pikliz** (a spicy, pickled cabbage relish). While one customer review frustratingly noted an occasional shortage of this essential condiment, its presence is key to the authentic taste of the fried dishes. Choosing Maranatha is choosing delicious, soul-satisfying comfort food that truly delivers an authentic Haitian taste right here in Spring Valley, NY.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1There's no parking. The parking lot is very tight. Someone almost hit my car while I was inside. It was a good thing that I was paying attention. Inside this restaurant is unorganized. No one greeted me. People were just coming in and out. People were cutting in front of others to go get food. It was just a turmoil, disorganized.
June 21 · Nathalie WrightThey could've gotten 5 stars but they're constantly always out of pickliz. Nothing is worse than making your plate and at checkout finding out there's no condiments to go with your food. It's the equivalent to a Chinese restaurant being out of soy/duck sauce. Very frustrating
April 11 · Guy CorriolantThe best Haitian food in the area. Busy. Friendly. Very authentic
February 25 · Monique HFood is good but presentation was not appealing. Need to improve on presentation and customer service.
May 31 · H&R Event PlanningThe food is always good. But the older woman cashier that works on Saturday mornings is always unfriendly and cold. She saw a line and that's when she chose to refill everything. She never says hi and is just unprofessional. I try to avoid Saturdays here bc of her. Other than the terrible customer service, the food never disappoints and always a variety of dishes to choose from.
