Mas Tacos Introduce
In the constant whirlwind of New York City, particularly around the bustling transportation hub of Penn Station, finding a reliable spot for a quality meal can feel like a challenge. Amidst the hurried commuters and tourist crowds, Mas Tacos emerges as a true urban oasis. This isn't just another fast-food counter; it's a vibrant and welcoming Mexican restaurant and bar that has become a go-to destination for locals and travelers alike. With its prime location and commitment to fresh, flavorful food, Mas Tacos proves that you don't have to sacrifice quality for convenience, even in one of the city's busiest locales.
Mas Tacos has a distinct and appealing vibe that sets it apart. As one customer noted, it’s a "hidden gem" tucked away near the old Amtrak board in Penn Station. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, providing a much-needed respite from the high-energy chaos of the station. This is a place where you can grab a quick and delicious bite before catching a train or an event at Madison Square Garden. The food smells incredible, drawing you in with the promise of authentic, satisfying Mexican cuisine. Whether you're looking for a fast lunch, a dinner before a show, or just a laid-back spot for a drink, Mas Tacos offers a perfect setting. The dual role of a casual restaurant and a lively bar, complete with sports on the TV screens, makes it a versatile destination for almost any occasion.
The menu at Mas Tacos is a celebration of classic Mexican flavors with a variety of options to satisfy any craving. While tacos are, of course, the star of the show, the restaurant's offerings are diverse and well-executed. From the savory Birria Tacos and Al Pastor Quesadillas to the hearty Mex Burger and Loaded Nachos, every item is crafted to be a delicious and comforting experience. The commitment to fresh ingredients is evident in popular choices like the Chips & Guac and the fresh taste of their tacos and burritos. For those looking for a quick, filling meal, the menu includes a wide range of options, including breakfast platters and sandwiches for the morning rush and late-night food for those late-night cravings. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which is a major bonus in this part of town.
Beyond the food, Mas Tacos also shines as a bar. It features a great selection of alcohol, including beer, cocktails, and hard liquor. The margaritas are particularly praised by patrons, making the bar a popular spot for a "really good happy hour" in Midtown. The combination of excellent food, well-made drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere makes Mas Tacos a standout in a location where options can often feel generic. It's a place that truly understands its audience, delivering fast, fresh, and delicious food and drinks with zero hassle.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Hidden behind a taco counter in Penn Station near the old Amtrak board, this place is a gem. Didn’t have food but it smells incredible. Really good happy hour for midtown, and a relaxed vibe. Just needs WiFi or better cell service lol.
March 17 · Joslyn HansenAmazing tacos and margaritas right in Penn Station. My go-to for lunch or before Knicks games / MSG events. Fast service, great drinks, and fresh Mexican food.
April 27 · ChrisI tried their shrimp tacos with corn tortillas. It tasted pretty good. I might have let the food sit for too long because the food collapsed onto the plate. Maybe I’ll order the flour tortilla next time.
November 20 · DragonRiderIn what world is a bartender distracted from making money? Only in the world of Mas Tacos 🥴I sat down at the bar last night and was quite literally the only person there, besides one guy. The guy already had food and a beer. I sat patiently as the bartender and patron spoke. After 20 MINUTES, I interrupted and asked for a menu. This is the second time it's happened. Different bartender, different guy but still the same setup. Idk why guys who don't have a life need to rizz up female bartenders, but this seems to be the spot for it.Great food, shit service (unless you're a single guy).Update: The response from management of reaching out to them to fix this issue? How am I, as a ex-customer of Mas Tacos, supposed to fix single males trying to get laid and the female bartenders entertaining it? TALK to your staff and communicate this issue is causing a loss in business (again, unless Mas Tacos' clientele is supposed to only be single guys, then nothing is wrong at all 🙄)
September 01 · Tatyana HarrisI’ve been wanting to try this for a while and today I had an hour and a half so I went, tried three different tacos. While I appreciate the effort in handmade tortillas, the corn tortillas just didn’t have the structural integrity for the tacos. They didn’t even make it to the table before they started breaking apart. I know a lot of places layer two corn tortillas for this very reason. Some melt cheese over the tortilla to give it more structure. The bottom line of this is that the tacos aren’t “train-friendly”. And you WILL end up eating with a fork. That said, the food was good…just a heaping mess. I found the guy serving me nice and helpful. As mentioned in other reviews, the back bar is a nice, isolated place to eat compared to Moynihan Food Hall. The only exception was the loud Mexican music and bad sound system which crackled with the volume. If they fix the tortilla issue, I’ll easily be back…and I’ll change my review.UPDATE: Really appreciated the owner’s response. I really want to state that the food at this place was head and shoulders above the Mexican place in Moynihan Hall. Not only was it fresher, larger and better tasting, but I got three tacos and a drink for $10 less than I paid for two mediocre tacos with flautas in Moynihan hall. Crumbling corn tortillas or not, Mas Tacos is far superior.
