Enter the wonderful world of cat cafes, a concept that has taken the city by storm by offering a unique sanctuary for both animal lovers and those simply seeking a tranquil escape. Among these special places, Meow Parlour stands out as a true pioneer and a beloved institution in the local community. It is more than just a cafe; it’s a thoughtfully designed space where felines roam freely, providing a delightful and therapeutic experience for everyone who steps inside. This distinctive establishment has become a go-to destination for New Yorkers looking for a dose of cuteness, a moment of calm, and a chance to interact with some of the city's most charming residents.
Meow Parlour is not just about the novelty of sharing a space with cats; it is a business with a mission. The establishment proudly identifies as women-owned and operates with a clear purpose: to serve as a pet adoption service. This dual role of a cafe and an adoption center gives it a deeper meaning. Patrons aren't just there to pet cats; they are also getting to know potential furry family members. The cats and kittens at Meow Parlour are all from a rescue organization, and they are available for adoption. This provides a humane and low-stress environment for the animals to interact with people, increasing their chances of finding a forever home. The business is built on a foundation of care and compassion, making every visit a feel-good experience. The atmosphere is casual, and the focus is on creating a space that is both clean and comfortable for people and cats alike. It is this combination of a commercial enterprise and a community service that makes Meow Parlour such an important and cherished part of the New York landscape.
Meow Parlour's location is as convenient and vibrant as its concept. Situated at 43 Essex St, New York, NY 10002, USA, it is nestled in the lively and historic Lower East Side. This neighborhood is known for its diverse culture, unique boutiques, and a burgeoning food scene, making it a perfect spot for a place like Meow Parlour. The cafe is easily accessible by public transportation, with several subway lines and bus routes serving the area. This makes it a great destination no matter where you are coming from in Manhattan or the surrounding boroughs. For those who drive, paid street parking is available, although as is typical in New York, it can be a challenge. The proximity to other attractions in the Lower East Side means you can easily plan a day around your visit, perhaps grabbing a bite to eat or exploring the local shops before or after your time with the cats.
The accessibility of Meow Parlour is a key feature. The establishment has a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible restroom, demonstrating a commitment to welcoming all members of the community. This attention to detail ensures that people with mobility challenges can enjoy the unique experience without any barriers. This structure is what makes the experience special and allows for a higher quality of interaction.
Pet Adoption Service: As a registered pet adoption service, Meow Parlour facilitates the adoption of the cats and kittens that reside there. They partner with a local rescue organization, and every cat in the cafe is available for adoption. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great place, many kittens, all are playful and cute . Lots of space. Better to make a reservation, to secure the spot. Entrance is by the hour. We were lucky to come exactly at 5pm and made it with no reservation.Cats are so cute, that we end up forgetting to order food. Entrance is $23 for each person. Do not forget socks, since should take off shoes.
August 23 · Anna KuksenkoI had the best time visiting with the cats here. I made a reservation before visiting and would definitely recommend doing so since space is limited. The cats are so cute and well cared for, and I fell in love with Diver. Anyone who adopts her will be so lucky! I enjoyed grabbing a cute Totoro kicker toy for my cats at home, too.
August 29 · SaraFrom their social media to in-person interactions with the staff, it's clear that Meow Parlour genuinely cares for their cats. I've been skeptical of cat cafes in the past, as some seem to prioritize profits over caring their cats. But Meow Parlour truly put the cats first, and it shows in everything they do.Here, you can play with adorable cats while they are waiting for their forever homes. Remember to respect their house rules: no flash photography, and don’t wake or pick up the cats. It’s a wonderful spot for cat lovers, and maybe you’ll find a new furry friend.Highly recommend booking a spot here, all while supporting their mission of rescuing more cats. It is around $23 after tax per person for a 50-minute session.
April 06 · Ruby ChanMe and my partner came here on Tuesday, our last day in New York before we went back home and it was a really good experience. The merch is adorable and very reasonably priced and the staff are all very nice. The person who was attending the register and the main area was also really nice and while we’re very sad we couldn’t adopt any of the cats there we hope they find loving homes soon. We will definitely be back when we come back to nyc! We even got to meet the owner of the cafe! She was very nice and took pictures of baby corn on my phone ! I love baby corn and I hope he feels better soon. The cookies are also really good ! I had a cookies and cream one! Overall, we highly recommend this cute little cat café if you’re in the area and want to play with some kitties or are looking to adopt!
August 21 · lilyWe had so much fun at the Meow Parlour! The cats were so fun and the staff was very friendly. The coffee and pastries were delicious. There is a fun gift shop with so many cat themed goodies. If you’re looking for a fun and relaxing time hanging out with cats, this is the place for you.The cat hangout area has a lot of seating as well as tables where you can do some work. You have to take your shoes off before entering the cat area. There is a place to hang coats and place shoes before going in. You can bring your drink and pastries in while you hang out with the cats. Can’t wait to go back, definitely recommend!
