In the bustling heart of Midtown Manhattan, where fast-paced life often dictates a quick, on-the-go meal, Mezeh at 1700 Broadway offers a fresh and vibrant alternative. This isn't a traditional sit-down restaurant, but a fast-casual gem that has carved out a niche by providing bold, natural, and healthy Mediterranean food with remarkable speed. The concept is simple but effective: an abundance of fresh, scratch-made ingredients allows you to build your own masterpiece, whether it’s a bowl, a salad, or a wrap. This emphasis on customization and quality makes Mezeh a top choice for a diverse crowd, from office workers on a tight lunch break to tourists seeking a flavorful and wholesome meal.
The core of Mezeh's appeal lies in its commitment to freshness. The restaurant prides itself on making all its recipes from scratch every day. This includes everything from the grains and proteins to the dips and sauces. The use of high-quality ingredients, such as 100% extra virgin olive oil and locally sourced produce, ensures that every bite is packed with authentic Mediterranean flavor. Patrons can choose from an array of bases like white or brown basmati rice, mixed greens, or arugula, and then add a protein, with options including falafel, chicken shawarma, steak shawarma, and shredded lamb. The truly impressive part is the variety of toppings, from classic hummus and tzatziki dip to more unique selections like spicy feta and caramelized eggplant, allowing for endless combinations.
One of the most notable features of Mezeh is the value for money. Despite its prime Broadway location, the prices are considered reasonable, a significant draw in a city known for its high dining costs. This combination of affordability and large, fresh portions, as noted by a satisfied customer, makes it a go-to spot for those looking for a delicious and filling meal that doesn't break the bank. The long lines that often snake out the door during peak lunch hours are a testament to the fact that people are willing to wait for this kind of quality and value. For those in a hurry, Mezeh also offers a convenient option to order ahead for pickup, though some patrons have noted that this service can be subject to delays due to the high volume of orders the staff handles.
The atmosphere at Mezeh is casual and straightforward, designed for efficiency and a focus on the food. The "create-your-own" concept, where you can watch your meal being prepared, adds a layer of transparency and engagement to the experience. This format allows you to see the freshness of the ingredients firsthand and ensures your meal is exactly what you want. The restaurant's dedication to providing healthy options is also a major highlight, with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices available. This makes it a great choice for those with specific dietary needs who still want to enjoy a flavorful and satisfying meal. The overall vibe is quick, clean, and modern, reflecting the fast-casual dining trend that has become so popular.
Ultimately, Mezeh’s success in New York is built on its simple promise: to serve fresh, bold, and natural food made from scratch. Its consistent quality and great value have earned it a loyal following. While the high demand can sometimes lead to long wait times, the delicious and wholesome food is often considered well worth the patience. The Falafel Bowl, with its piping hot falafel balls and fresh vegetables, is a perfect example of what Mezeh does best—providing a comforting yet healthy meal that feels both familiar and exciting. It's a place where you can guarantee a tasty and satisfying experience every time you visit.

I ordered ahead, thinking I’d outsmart the ppl order in person. When I arrived, my order was nowhere to be found, but the guy at the counter assured me it would be ready in “5 minutes.” He said that every five minutes. My trust in him is now the subject of a 15-minute therapy call with my credit card company. As you can see from the picture, they’re clearly accepting more orders than the staff can realistically handle. No one who ordered ahead was getting their food on time. If you’re in a rush, or just like having your food at some point in the same hour you ordered it, maybe just go to Naya.
July 29 · Ryosuke HashimotoJust had a takeout lunch of the Falafel Bowl - large portions, fresh piping hot falafel balls and Pita bread, fresh vegetables and a large assortment of sauces and sides.Great value for money! The line gets long during lunch, it snaked out the door onto the street in 94° weather - shows that people will wait patiently for delicious food that's priced right. One can also order ahead and pickup. After having lunch in Mezeh in Short Pump, Virginia - was pleasantly surprised that there was one a block away from office.A very satisfied customer - guaranteed that I will be a repeat customer 😋. Will bring along office mates! On Broadway, corner of 53rd st. Not much public parking around.
July 10 · Pranay GandhiI’ve lived in this city for years and had some godawful service but this takes the cake. Ordered at 12:45… received a text my order was ready at 1… didn’t get my meal, because I had to LEAVE because my lunch hour was about to end. They have one guy handling pickups, the cash register, and occasionally hopping on the prep line to MAKE FOOD during lunch rush. Mind you there were already 4 people on the prep line... maybe one of them could hop off and clean the DEEPLY unsanitary and dirty store as well
July 30 · Elizabeth RieglerNice new spot. Healthy and comes with good quantity.Got a custom chicken plus falafel wrap. Quite heavy and filling for around $14
February 07 · Bhakti DalviI was walking in Manhattan until I came across this restaurant. Mezeh really catch my eye and when I entered, I smelled delicious food and eye catching designs. The service is very polite and patient and I asked the Chef manager for recommendations and she told me for a Half falafel, Half chicken Shawarma. And in the first bite I took was one of the best meals I've tried in New York. I would vote it 6 stars if I could, amazing.
