★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I think because I might've had such high expectations that I was very let down. The interior of the shop is cute and simple. You order at the counter and the food is brought to you when it's done. When I came, there were only two people working but it got a bit busy, so service was a bit slow.I got their August special: the scallion pancake burger. I saw this on a Tiktok and really wanted to try, but was very let down. The scallion pancake didn't really taste like a scallion pancake (there were no aromatics) and it was soggy (not crispy at all). I think they also put too much sauce so it overpowered any other flavors in the burger. Overall, I thought it was really salty and I wouldn't recommend paying $17 for it. I would say though, that they are more known for their dumplings, so maybe try those?
August 22 · Mia HuynhJust had a fabulous meal at Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings, and I’m already planning my next visit! Started off with the Scallion Pancake, crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of greasy goodness. The Spicy Dan Noodles were perfectly cooked with a kick that’s bold but not overwhelming. And of course the star of the show is the Mimi Cheng’s Dumplings. They’re everything you want in a dumpling, plump, juicy, and packed with flavor. It’s easy to see why this spot is a local favorite. Whether you’re a dumpling aficionado or just looking for a tasty bite, you’ve got to check out Mimi Cheng’s.
August 07 · Bella LuSuch high quality dumplings! You can't compare these to the ones you get in Chinatown for like 20 for $10. If you've ever made dumplings at home you would understand how much expensive ingredients go into a fresh dumpling! This is one of the last mimi cheng stores and I hope they hang around!
March 12 · CfanI used to love getting takeout / delivery from here, but I just ordered delivery of steamed pork dumplings and they arrived literally raw on the inside. The worst part is we did not notice until eating a few dumplings. They did apologize and refund the order, but this should still never happen at a restaurant.
December 01 · Keilani GroszykIn general, I eat a lot of seafood and vegetable dumplings. A small bit of meat dumplings here and there. Dumplings are one of my food groups. It is really hard to find a good clean simple and flavorful vegetable dumpling. This is the best I’ve had in nyc. Reminds me of my grandmothers. I really like how the ingredients aren’t also mushed together, you can really taste and see the vegetable that you’re eating. The crispy cabbage salad with the subtle, light but flavorful dressing is not to be missed! Pairs excellent with vegetable dumpling! As far as the price, it’s in East Village, everyone has to pay their rent and utilities, small mom and pop looking location, made by hand, great quality tasting ingredients, perfect in my opinion, so completely worth it!So above is my first review from about a week ago. I was in the neighborhood again and enjoyed them so much the first time decided to come back and get the same thing. Unfortunately, we’re not the best dumplings. They were cold and still raw so asked them to be reheated. Three came back slightly broken and were still raw and cold, which was a bummer. The dumpling sauce also tastes different. The cabbage salad lacked the amount of dressing from the first time. I really want to love this place because they have good items but need to work on consistency. My first visit was 5 out of 5 stars for food. My second visit was 1 out of 5 for food. So I am changing it to 3 stars. Took off a star second time for service since the guy was nice but seemed to be more concerned with his phone than food.
