New JW Golden Bakery Introduce
The New JW Golden Bakery, nestled in the vibrant heart of Sunset Park, Brooklyn, is more than just a typical neighborhood stop; it represents the diverse culinary tapestry that makes New York City unique. Located conveniently at 6017 4th Ave, this establishment serves as a hub for locals and returning visitors alike, offering a specific type of establishment—a Chinese bakery—but with a surprisingly broad menu that caters to various tastes throughout the day. For those in the New York region looking for authentic, value-driven baked goods and quick, satisfying meals, New JW Golden Bakery stands out. The establishment has cultivated a dedicated local following, often evidenced by the bustling early morning rush.
The core identity of New JW Golden Bakery, as highlighted by loyal patrons, firmly centers on traditional Chinese bakery items. Customers consistently speak of the classic offerings: the beloved pork buns, the sweet and fluffy pineapple buns, delicate egg tarts, and the practical ham and egg buns. Beyond the standard baked goods, the menu impressively expands to include traditional Cantonese-style breakfast and lunch items, such as savory congee, stir-fried noodles, shrimp dumplings, shrimp and beef rice rolls, soy sauce chicken, and steamed riblets. This range of traditional, comforting food highlights its role not just as a bakery, but as a full-service, value-focused eatery for the local community. The sheer volume of orders, with loyal customers ordering “100 or more buns” to take home, underscores the quality and enduring appeal of its core product line and its deeply rooted place in the neighborhood's culinary landscape. This commitment to traditional, high-value offerings solidifies its reputation as a genuine gem in the Sunset Park area.
However, what truly makes the New JW Golden Bakery distinct is its unexpected, parallel menu of savory, Middle Eastern-style dishes. This addition provides a significant contrast to the Chinese bakery staples, offering choices like Tabouli, a fresh and tangy salad, and Baba Ghannouge. For a more substantial meal, patrons can choose from filling Chicken Shawarma and Meat Shawarma sandwiches. The bakery also offers a selection of pies, including the substantial Big Meat pie, the simple Round Veggie pie (priced affordably at $1.00), and the Round Zatar pie ($2.49). Specialty breads like Cheese Bread ($4.00) and Kishk Bread ($1.50) further diversify the selection. This unique fusion of classic Chinese bakery items alongside Mediterranean/Middle Eastern savory options ensures that the bakery can satisfy a wide range of cravings from a single location, making it a compelling spot for a quick and varied bite in Brooklyn.

What is Worth Choosing
The New JW Golden Bakery is worth choosing for several clear, compelling reasons, though potential customers must be aware of its operational policy regarding payment. Firstly, for New York residents seeking authentic, highly-praised traditional Chinese bakery items and hot meals like congee or stir-fried noodles, the bakery offers unparalleled value and taste, validated by decades of customer loyalty and high-volume demand. The quality of its buns, tarts, and other staples is such that customers make special trips and place large pre-orders, cementing its reputation as a best-in-class provider for these specific goods in the region.
Secondly, its unique, cross-cultural menu provides an exceptional opportunity for a varied meal. Where else can one grab a freshly baked pineapple bun alongside a satisfying Chicken Shawarma or a savory Round Zatar pie? This makes it an excellent choice for groups or individuals with diverse cravings who need a single, convenient location for a quick, affordable, and filling meal. The offerings of Tabouli and Baba Ghannouge as sides further demonstrate this culinary flexibility.
Thirdly, the bakery’s location near a major transit hub makes it the ideal spot for a 'Quick visit' breakfast or pre-commute fuel-up. The efficiency required to manage a high-volume morning rush suggests a streamlined service, making it reliable for busy New Yorkers. The evident diversity of its clientele is a testament to its broad appeal and welcoming atmosphere.
However, a critical factor for New York area customers to note is the payment policy. The bakery's adherence to a cash-only system is a significant detail, especially in 2025 where many rely exclusively on digital payment methods. Customers must plan accordingly and ensure they have cash on hand, as payment via cards or phone is reportedly not accepted. While this may be seen as 'not convenient at all' by some modern users, it is a non-negotiable part of the transaction process here and is arguably linked to the extremely low prices and high value the bakery can maintain. For those willing to use cash, the reward is access to some of the most authentic, affordable, and beloved baked goods and savory meals in the Brooklyn area, solidifying the New JW Golden Bakery as a neighborhood institution well worth the visit.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We go to this bakery every time we go back home to visit family. We are surprised the workers and owners recognize us even though we visit every couple of years. This place is small and right by the train station and they are packed for the early morning rush hour. They make the traditional pork buns, pineapple buns, egg tarts, ham and egg buns. They even have congee, stir fried noodles, shrimp dumplings, shrimp and beef rice rolls, soy sauce chicken, steamed riblets… The prices here are cheap and you definitely get your moneys worth. You know the place omits good and of good value when you see all ethnicity groups in there waiting to be served. Whenever we leave town we always order buns to take back home. The owners asked us to place the orders in advance so we don’t clean them out of all their buns and upset other customers lol. So it’s been our tradition before leaving town to order 100 or more buns to bring home. Gem of a bakery in the neighborhood.
June 02 · John YNot convenient at all.In 2025, it’s surprising that this place only accepts cash. Many people, like myself, don’t carry cash all the time—we rely on cards or phone payments. I found myself stuck, just trying to grab something to eat or drink, and couldn’t because they refused anything but cash. Businesses should consider modern payment options, not force people into using cash only. It’s really not worth the hassle.

September 07 · C CWe drive quite a distance or whenever we're in Brooklyn, we have to stop here for their coffee. The food and baked items are fresh and delicious. The staff is always smiling and nice. The only downside is that parking can be challenging but well worth it!
September 08 · Vic VegaGreat Asian bakery. Always fresh and always consistently prepared buns and hot food selection. Coffee is fantastic and a real treat, if you like it rich and creamy. Prices are very affordable for most of their selection. The staff is pleasant to deal with and friendly. They also work quickly where the longest line to the door is less than a minute wait most of the time. Will continue to patronize this bakery as long as I continue to work in Brooklyn.
