The Live Seafood is undoubtedly the top recommendation. While priced by the market, as is traditional for the freshest quality, selections like the Big Crab with Ginger and Scallion or Lobster with Ginger and Scallion are expertly prepared, often steamed or wok-fried to highlight the natural sweetness of the fresh catch. Past diners have noted the quality of the live seafood, including the King Crab, which was prepared by steaming with garlic and ginger, or steamed with egg—a true Cantonese delicacy. For a smaller, yet equally fresh start, the Steamed Fresh Oyster in Shell is also an excellent choice at $2.75 per oyster.
For Dim Sum enthusiasts, the lunch service is a must-try. Essential items like the Steamed Shrimps Dumplings ($3.25) and Pork Siu Mai ($2.75) are Cantonese staples that demonstrate the skill of the kitchen. Unique and comforting options like the Steamed Sticky Rice with Lotus Leaves ($3.25) or the savory Minced Pork Taro Puff ($2.75) are also excellent choices for a varied and flavorful Dim Sum experience.
Among the House Specials, the Seafood Delight in Hot Pot ($18.95) and the rich Royal Clam XO Sauce ($20.95) promise deep, complex flavors that are characteristic of masterful Cantonese cooking. The use of XO sauce, a luxury chili sauce from Hong Kong, highlights the restaurant's commitment to high-end Cantonese ingredients. For a crispy, savory bite, the Salted Baked Squid with Hot Chili Pepper ($9.95) is a popular and flavorful choice.
Finally, for those seeking Cantonese classics beyond seafood, the expertly prepared Roast Peking Duck ($32.95) is a perennial favorite, and the Roast Crispy Squab ($12.95) provides a delicious, traditional poultry option. Meanwhile, the array of satisfying noodle and rice dishes, like the Seafood Pan Noodles ($14.95) or the classic Young Chow Fried Rice ($8.95), are perfect for a complete meal.
In summary, when visiting New Northern Manor, prioritizing the fresh, live seafood and the expertly executed Dim Sum offers the most authentic and rewarding Cantonese experience. Whether you’re a local or visiting Queens, this restaurant is a consistently good choice for quality, authentic Chinese food in the Little Neck area.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We recently visited the New Northern Manor for dinner. They offer a small parking lot in the rear and self-pay street parking. The restaurant can accommodate both small and large parties and is kid-friendly. However, as with many authentic Chinese restaurants, the dinning area can be quite loud. They have a live fish tank with healthy-looking fish. During our visit, king crab was priced at about $50 per pound. It was expertly prepared by steaming with garlic and ginger. The second cooking option for the King Crab was with steamed egg. Other dishes met normal standards, though they added extra beef to the Western Lake beef soup, which was different but still good. Overall, the prices were fair for the quality of food.Be aware that the wait time for a table on weekends is very long. Also they serve Dim Sum during lunch.
July 04 · CarlThe dishes are very delicious. It's much better than next door restaurant 13xx.
August 06 · Lawrence LeungGood place to be for dining in dim sum. Very friendly staff and servers. Restaurant gets busy and crowded midday on weekends. We can see that many are regular or returning patrons. Enjoyed their fresh and tasty dim sum accompanied with a pot of fragrant Jasmine tea. Overall, we were quite surprised and impressed with their good quality food, drinks and polite staff. Shall definitely be coming back. 😊
February 24 · Alan and Deirdre ForeverDim sum experience in Little Neck. They do have dimsum on weekdays. Assuming limited varieties. Still had the typical assortment of buns and dimsum dishes. They do have a small parking lot. I find the spaces tight, so if you have a nice ride, you should opt for metered parking on the street. The staff is friendly and the food quite good. They have a small parking lot.
May 18 · Steve ChengGot Dim Sum here and it was incredible. I ate every last bite. Quick service and spectacular meals. Pork bun & shumai were the best, but I absolutely devoured everything and I think the coconut custard is the best desert, but if you want something a little less sweet, I recommend the egg custard. Come here if you need something quick, but fulfilling. 5 stars.
