★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had an excellent, COVID safe, delicious and special meal at Oldstone Inn. We opted for the 12 course dinner, as we hadn’t been out for dinner in forever and this was the first place that sounded like we would actually feel comfortable dining inside........it did not disappoint. Maximum of 16 guests in the entire place and it’s expansive. We only saw 2-3 staff members, including the chef and we were there for 4+ hours.Lots of wonderful, colorful, flavorful vegetable courses , mussels, clams, beef, chicken liver - all fantastic and several items I would not normally try when dining out. We were impressed. Our own dining room, with a private bathroom, as well - great, personalized service, attention from the chef and staff, a wonderful beverage pairing that we decided on once we arrived and chatted with the Matt about the makeup of the pairing. Bronson, Matt and the rest of their tight crew did fantastic job. Only disappointment was we couldn’t stay over and experience the wonderful breakfast included the following morning :)
February 11 · Samantha ShinnickOldstone Inn is truly a hidden gem. My husband and I stayed there for a much needed pandemic getaway and had an incredible experience. The grounds and views are beautiful but the real standouts were the food and the lovely, attentive staff. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional, without being pretentious (as often happens with fine dining). Many of the team members are Blue Hill at Stone Barns alumns and their passion for their craft was evident in every single dish. They took care to modify dishes based on our dietary preferences and it was a pleasure speaking with the chefs, who came out periodically, as well as the servers, who were happy to tell us the story behind each dish. We can’t wait to return and check out the outdoor casual dining menus which will be rolling out soon.
April 04 · Lucy RitterFantastic 12 course dinner at Oldstone! Food was creative and clever. The setup is beyond safe. Service was spectacular. They piloted a “flower pairing” tonight, which was honestly was really cool (special shout-out to Hannah for being friggin awesome!).We have dined in a lot of 2, 3 Michelin star restaurants around the world, and we were really impressed! My only piece of feedback is that there were not nearly enough meats / fish during the meal - Probably 4 oz total spread across 12 courses. It was more than enough food overall, but I don’t feel like we had proper entree courses. It felt close to a vegan meal, which we definitely wouldn’t have signed up for. Would love to see more meat and fish incorporated! That said, it was absolutely delightful and a great addition to the Westchester food scene. We will definitely go back!
March 21 · Eric ThumWhere to even begin with the incredible, complete and total experience this restaurant has put together.First - of course - is the food: a tasting menu is an adventure, trusting expert chefs to craft something creatively. Much thought is put into these menus, but the chefs here were incredibly accommodating for us.Inform them of foods that you unable (or unwilling) to eat via tocks website or email (the earlier the better) - and let them do the rest.I was impressed with their level of accommodation to craft something different just for us due to our unfamiliarity with certain foods (shellfish for example). I communicated via email and was surprised to receive response directly from the chef cooking that night. Chef Bronson altered a course for us and double checked to make sure there were no other preferences once we were seated. Talk about a personal touch and attention to detail. When the first course came, everything was absolutely delicious, yet with a unique twist on some classic flavor profiles. Even familiar foods were paired with different or exotic ingredients artfully. We loved the use of pralines and pine nuts roasted in oil to make a dressing, the use of Quince - a floral fruit we learned existed tonight to flavor a cream, and even the use of a comfort food like ruffles potato chips expertly ground into a beautifully flavored sauce pairing with a roast potato dish. Each course was an experience all its own and each delicious. This is the level of creativity and thought Chef Eric Korn and Chef Bronson brought to life. It was a real treat. We had never experienced such artful dishes - Thank you so much for your cooking.Next, what set this place apart from a regular tasting: the level of service worthy of a Michelin starred restaurant. This restaurant brought service to another level. All of the staff worked as a cohesive team, with servers, chefs, and front end staff ending up table side, helping to educate you about the food being served, notable facts and provide suggestions for how to experience it.Our server Matt was a clear professional in fine dining, and his attention to detail was what impressed me the most. From helping with wine recommendations, checking in regularly and pacing the experience perfectly, he went above and beyond for us.Enduring all our questions, he never missed a beat. We had offhand mentioned loving the bowls used, and a comment about how the house made bread - made from a peculiar ancient grain, was the best bread we had ever tasted, and Matt got us the information to get bowls of our own, and had bread waiting for us on the way out the door.Due to Matt’s attention I was also able to meet the executive chef during our last course which was such a treat. I was slightly starstruck and wish I got to thank him for his work during COVID. Executive chefs don’t usually make their way to tables, so I couldn’t have appreciated this more.Lastly the ambiance: absolutely astounding. The dining rooms are separate rooms with a romantic and peaceful setting in a renovated Victorian house. The first thing we noticed was a big, beautiful floral arrangement done custom by Hannah (who also helped explain a few of the courses to us), which we could not stop photographing. Coupled with a candlelit private room, and decor from a bygone era, the night was a show stopper. The venue itself is situated on the Hudson River directly so if you’re able to go around sunset, the natural lighting from numerous windows would be breathtaking. They offer a full 12 course dinner or more affordable 6 course dinner. Any stay at Monteverde comes with the full course dinner, however some tables are saved each night for those dining only, making this a great option for a special occasion, or a splurge without a stay.Theres a coat check upon entry, perfectly maintained restrooms, and a large parking lot with plenty of room. This was an experience I will never forget.Thank you so much to the team at Oldstone Inn. We hope to be back again, and with friends!
February 15 · Anthony AAn unforgettable dining experience!
