Peko’s pica pollo Introduce
For New Yorkers in Westchester County and beyond seeking a truly authentic taste of the Dominican Republic, Peko’s Pica Pollo stands out as a dedicated local spot. Specializing in the namesake dish, Pica Pollo—Dominican-style fried chicken—this restaurant brings a slice of Caribbean culinary tradition right to Peekskill, New York. Pica Pollo is more than just fried chicken; it’s a cultural experience, typically involving bone-in chicken pieces seasoned with a unique blend of Latin flavors like Sazón, Adobo, and Sofrito, often parboiled and then deep-fried to a perfect, crispy golden-brown finish. This meticulous preparation method ensures the chicken is both fully cooked and intensely flavorful, a delicious contrast of crunchy exterior and tender, juicy meat.
Peko’s Pica Pollo is positioned as a go-to destination for those craving genuine Dominican 'comfort food' and 'quick bites.' While the Pica Pollo is the star, the menu is rounded out with other Dominican delights, offering locals and visitors a satisfying taste of Caribbean cuisine in a friendly, casual atmosphere. For many, a good piece of this authentically prepared fried chicken, or the popular boneless Pechurinas, paired with traditional sides like tostones (fried green plantains), can evoke a powerful sense of nostalgia or introduce an exciting new flavor profile.

What is Worth Choosing
For those in the New York region looking for authentic and satisfying Dominican fare, Peko’s Pica Pollo offers a specific and appealing value proposition. The standout choice here is undoubtedly the Pica Pollo. The concept of Pica Pollo, deeply embedded in Dominican food culture, represents a departure from standard American fried chicken, offering a deeply marinated, pre-cooked, and then fried chicken that bursts with traditional flavor and a desirable crunch. Customers consistently highlight the 'crunchy, delicious, and super fresh' fried chicken and mention the boneless Pechurinas/Chicken Tenders, noting that they are a nostalgic favorite. The various portion sizes, such as the 5pcs Pica Pollo or the 10pcs Pechurinas, ensure there's an option for individuals and families alike, often served with a choice of sides like tostones, which, even when not made-to-order, are reported to 'still tasted good' and come in 'plenty of food' portions. The menu's focus on essential Dominican 'Frituras' like Chicharron and the substantial La Cibaena Bandeja further solidify the restaurant's commitment to authentic comfort food.
While some customer feedback indicates occasional inconsistencies with food temperature and side dish freshness—a common challenge for high-volume takeout services—the high points of the main dishes, especially the flavor and texture of the chicken, are frequently praised and make the experience worthwhile. New Yorkers searching for that perfect Dominican 'quick bite' or 'casual dinner' that tastes homemade will appreciate the dedication to flavor and tradition at Peko’s Pica Pollo. The availability of delivery, curbside pickup, and takeout also makes it an exceptionally convenient choice for enjoying a flavorful, culture-rich meal without the fuss of a formal sit-down restaurant.

February 07 · Syndia CruzMy family and I love ordering pica pollo from here! The owner is always kind and welcoming, often sharing new menu items he’s excited to try out. Such a great guy! I was recently in the Dominican Republic, and even the pica pollo there couldn’t compare—this spot does it better! The seasoning is on point, and the chicken is perfectly crispy. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for some authentic Dominican fried chicken.
