Peperino West Side Reviews
This was a neighborhood favorite when we moved into the area 3 years ago. Always great pizza and service, and great energy inside. Since then we’ve branched out to a few other local gems. About a year ago we ordered again, and it just fell flat. Dry, hard crust. Lacking flavor. It was giving bad grocery-store-frozen energy (between us questioning if we’d ordered gluten free by mistake… which to be fair to gluten free, would have probably had this pizza beat). We chalked it up to an off night or change in management. Unfortunately we just ordered again tonight…. Exact same order, same issue. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on at Pepperino, but someone should check in. In a city like New York - for this cuisine in particular - I’m shocked this being tolerated by the droves of families flocking there each evening and weekend. The location must make it. As for the pizza, we’ll be walking the hill for better from now on. Just sad it’s come to this.
September 08 · Mark T. PhillipsI would love to continue ordering from here but I m not sure why I'm getting a Sicilian slice when I'm ordering a grandma slice. Why is your crust so thick and big? It used to be so good :( so disappointededit: thank you for your response george, i love your pizza and its quality but i ordered this online and was not able to request a modification. this is also the second time this has happened to me, i thought it was a fluke the first time but this second time was so frustrating.
March 30 · Rabiya RizviThe space is nice and clean, the staff is welcomingI want to support this business because I live nearby so I hope this comes as constructive criticism: the pizza is fresh and the topping options are great, but it’s always so severely unseasoned. I can tell these are good ingredients but the lack of seasoning just makes it so bland and unremarkable. This is such a strategic location and this place could have everything going on to become a big hit - I hope this soon becomes somewhere I go for the taste instead of just for the convenience.
April 06 · Nicole DocFinally open! The pizza is great here. The crust is just the right crispiness. I love the taste of the pizza and the variety. We met the owners and staff; very friendly and attentive. The space is large for the area with plenty of tables. Room enough for families. The prices are fair, and specially for NYC. Definitely give it a shot. I have added pictures of the menu. It’s a small family owned business, so help support. One note though - small pizza is not worth the price. It’s smaller than two slices that you could buy for less.
June 15 · Mindy RamirezPerfect spot for pizza. Had a fresh upside down pizza straight out of the oven. Excellent !! Very clean and welcoming. Will be returning soon! Great job.
