Petite Dumpling Introduce
When New Yorkers are looking for a comforting, casual, and incredibly satisfying meal in Brooklyn, the conversation often turns to quality dumplings and dim sum. In the heart of Park Slope, a culinary gem called Petite Dumpling is delivering on that promise, and quickly becoming a local favorite for its handcrafted approach to Chinese and Asian street food. Situated right on the bustling Fifth Avenue, this spot offers much more than just a quick bite; it provides a thoughtfully curated menu of small plates and dumplings perfect for lunch, dinner, or a delicious solo dining experience.
Petite Dumpling distinguishes itself by focusing on the art of the dumpling and the tradition of dim sum, offering small, bite-sized portions designed to "touch the heart," as the Chinese meaning of dim sum suggests. The restaurant’s founder, Mei Chau, has poured her extensive culinary experience—spanning decades and including influences from French and Malaysian cuisine—into a menu that is both authentic and modern. It’s this unique flavor profile and dedication to fresh, daily-made food that has earned the restaurant a loyal following in the Park Slope community. The atmosphere is noted for being cozy, welcoming, and casual, embodying a minimalist design inspired by traditional tea houses. It’s an ideal setting for a relaxed meal with family, a quick and tasty lunch, or a satisfying dinner.
The menu is a testament to the restaurant’s diverse offerings. For dumpling aficionados, the selection is extensive. You can start with traditional steamed favorites from the Dim Sum section, such as the classic Har Gow (shrimp dumplings) and the flavorful Fish Roe & Pork Siumai, all affordably priced at $6.80. The more adventurous can delve into the Shanghai Soup Dumplings, which come in Pork, MaLa Pork, and Crab & Meat varieties, each at $7.80 for four pieces of soupy goodness. The standard dumplings offer five pieces each for $7.80, with savory options like Pork & Chive and Chicken & Napa Cabbage, plus gourmet choices like Lamb & Dill or Fish & Hijiki at $9.00.
Beyond the signature dumplings, Petite Dumpling presents a wide array of Chinese and Asian street food small plates. You can get a taste of the bold and spicy with the Mala Cucumber Salad (Cold) for $8.80 or the Mala Chicken Salad for $12.80. Other popular options include the crispy Scallion Pancake ($6.80), the savory Filipino Crispy Fried Ribs ($12.80), and unique vegetarian options like the Avocado Mango Rolls (Cold) for $8.80.
For larger appetites, the menu features a robust selection of tossed noodles, known as Ban Mein, including Sichuan Ban Mein, Cantonese Ban Mein, and Satay Sauce Ban Mein, all priced at $14.80. Noodle Soups are also available with a base of Chicken Broth, Mala Soup, Curry Soup, or Veg Soup for $15.00. For those seeking classic comfort, the Congee, a Chinese rice porridge, is served with Chicken, Fish, or Vegetable options for $10.80. The Big Platters section offers more substantial entrées like Braised Short Ribs ($20.80) and Duck Confit ($18.80). Finally, you can complement any meal with fresh Sauteed Daily Greens, such as Baby Bok Choy or Chinese Broccoli, or try a variety of Bao buns, including Roast Pork, Sweet Walnut Custard, and Salty Egg Custard, all priced at $6.80 for three pieces.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fair prices, delicious food, attentive staff. Tried an array of dumplings and bao buns. The taste was good, nothing out of this world per se but quite tasty. The cold sake was refreshing and portions were favorable. Great to have as an option when craving good dumplings and dim sum.
May 25 · Juan OropezaMy sister and I wound up at Petite Dumpling for an early dinner on a whim before a show at the Bell House. I can’t tell you how wonderful and thoughtful this small restaurant is. Prices are incredibly fair, service is amazing, and every dish we tried was delicious and comforting. We loved the shrimp dim sum dumplings, mala cucumbers, and fish congee. The attention to detail here does not go unnoticed - even down to the very pretty and functional tea service and minimal but cute decor.
July 21 · Dana BrociousDeliciously affordable food in a warn & cozy atmosphere. Petite dumpling is the perfect intimate spot to enjoy a lunch with some friends of have a dinner date. The appetizers are truly show stopping. You can’t come here without getting the scallion pancakes & chicken sticky rice. For mains, the curry soup is perfect for winter weather. Cannot recommend highly enough!
January 06 · Nicole MontanaMy go-to dish here is the coconut curry soup with a choice of three types of noodles and a choice of three ingredients. I get shrimp and sliced fish. The soup also comes with fried noodles, sprouts, and greens. It's the best soup I've ever had.
February 22 · RICHARD TAUBThe food is ok, but pricy. The service however is very very very slow. Some dishes didn't even started preparing 45 mins after we ordered them. I feel they optimize for take out and let dine-in customers wait. Or maybe the kitchen is simply not able to serve both dine-in and take out.We will not go again.
