★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I stumbled upon this place back in January 2020, and let me just say—it was hands down the best food discovery I’ve ever made.Coming from the Five Boroughs, I’m used to having a wide variety of sushi options—not just California rolls and spicy tuna. So on that snowy day, I ducked into this sushi spot just to grab a beer and maybe a basic roll. I wasn’t expecting much. But to my surprise, what I found was a gem: a wide range of options, incredibly fresh fish, and a sushi bar that looked like something out of a dream—four chefs working in sync behind a glass case and a corner board listing daily specials like Toro (fatty tuna) and Uni (sea urchin). That was my sign from above.Of course, I had to try the toro. And unlike many places that serve stringy, pieced-together cuts, this was the real deal—a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth piece of fatty tuna that tasted like a tender steak. Uni was like a bite ice cream from the sea. I was hooked. I washed it down with an Ichigo beer, which you don’t come across often, and just like that, a lifelong restaurant relationship was born.Since then, I’ve probably been to Sakura Garden over 100 times—no exaggeration. Family dinners, date nights with my wife, and now visits with my daughter. It’s become our own personal Cheers, where everyone knows our names. Some of my go-to favorites:• Blue Crab Sandwich• Duck Rolls• Rocky Shrimp Tempura• Sea Scallop Special(must try)• Uni sushi• The Toro (1 order nigiri and 1 standard)Below are a few snapshots from over the years. I can’t express enough how amazing the staff is and how consistent the food has been. I’ve even had friends make the trip up from the city just to experience it for themselves. If you stop by, tell them I sent you—you’ll be glad you did.
July 29 · Ravi RampersaudWe were excited to try this place based on the reviews. The positives: The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice. But when it came to the food, while the tuna dumpling was great, the rest of our meal was meh. To note, the Spicy Girl roll (which wasn't spicy) and Green Mountain roll were dry and disappointing, tasting more of rice than fish. The hibachi tuna meal was okay, served with a nice array of vegetables. All in all, definitely not what we were expecting.
July 18 · Elayne KCame on a whim on what seemed like the busiest time on the busiest day and was able to secure a table for two with little to no delay. It took a little bit longer to prepare the food, but got to witness how above and beyond the entire staff here was in the meantime. I saw them effortlessly juggle take out orders and front of house customer service without skipping a beat. The sushi might have been some of the best sushi I've ever had, so the longer wait was definitely worth it, and the service was top notch too. I liked how friendly the staff was and they all seemed to work like a nice team. Food was a reasonable price for the quality.I would definitely come back here again but probably not for a while.
June 13 · Mir “Miirkat” KhanWe had a pleasant dining experience here. The moment we arrived, we were promptly seated at a comfortable booth, and our orders were taken without delay. The service was great, with our servers being very attentive. The edamame we ordered was given on the house which we really appreciated. We also had the rocky shrimp tempura and it was delicious. I could have eaten plenty more of them. For a main, we decided to get the Love Boat for 2. It’s an assortment of sushi and sashimi with a cool presentation. It also comes with two salads and soups. The sushi itself was tasty but tended to fall apart relatively easily. Despite this, we enjoyed our dinner here and plan to come back.
August 02 · Osama MalikMy family and I frequent this restaurant. We love the sushi and hibachi lunch here. The waitresses are so kind and welcoming and treat many of the customers as their own family. Not necessarily a place you'd expect to become a regular at, but we have (as have many others) and wouldn't trade it. Love this place!
