In the vibrant and competitive culinary landscape of Palisades Park, Sam Bong stands out by focusing intently on a local specialty and executing it with meticulous detail. This focus ensures every bowl of cold noodles, whether served in savory broth or mixed with a spicy sauce, is an exceptional comfort food experience.
The atmosphere is distinctly casual and often bustling, frequently packed with local groups and families, which many consider a strong indicator of its legitimacy and high quality. It embodies a quick, efficient, and authentic dining model that sets it apart from traditional full-service restaurants. This semi-self-service approach is part of the charm, delivering great food quickly and at a highly reasonable price point.

For any New Jersey diner visiting Sam Bong, the primary choice is one of the Naengmyeon dishes. If you are new to Korean cold noodles, starting with the Mool Naengmyun ($13.00) is highly recommended. Its refreshing, deep beef broth is the essence of the dish, served with the signature chewy noodles. For those who enjoy an invigorating heat, the Bibim Naengmyun ($13.00), tossed in a robustly spicy sauce, is a beloved favorite, though be forewarned—it can be intensely spicy.
The best value and most satisfying experience often come from selecting one of the Noodle Combos ($18.00). The Cold Noodle Combo (Mool Naengmyun paired with a side meat like Moksalgui or grilled pork neck) provides the traditional pairing and a complete, balanced meal. This combination of cold noodles and a savory protein is highly recommended by regulars. The Spicy Noodle Combo offers the same great value with the Bibim Naengmyun.
For side dishes, the Mandoo (Steamed Pork Dumplings, $10.00) are an excellent accompaniment. If you are not in the mood for cold noodles at all, Sam Bong's dedication to quality extends to its main dishes. The Galbi Tang (Beef Short Rib Soup, $17.00) is highly praised for its rich, comforting broth, offering a perfect alternative on a cooler day. Additionally, be sure to take advantage of the unlimited, self-service warm beef broth, which is a perfect palate cleanser and a noted highlight of the overall Sam Bong experience. Choosing this local establishment means opting for authentic flavors, generous portions, and a unique, efficient service style that keeps the focus squarely on great Korean food.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place has delicious naengmyun (Korean cold noodle). It’s the perfect dish for the summer. We came here for lunch and the place was packed with uncles and aunties. We took a number and waited to be called inside. You’re expected to place your order before sitting down. Water and broth are self-service and unlimited. When your ticket number is served, you can go up to the counter and fetch your food. Once you’re done eating, it is expected for you to bring your tray back up to the counter. It was a very pleasant experience. No tips required. Highly recommended.
June 19 · XinPretty good Korean cold noodles on a hot summer! With some Korean pancake, galbi, and much more. Semi-self servicing, and frequented by many Koreans after golfing so you know it's legit!
August 14 · Andrew ChoiIt’s a self service place with descent food and no tips. Self service water and hot broth to drink. But the prices may not be as great as you think for what you get. The cold water naeng myun tasted bland although I usually eat on the bland side. It has one thin slice of meat. The dumplings order has only five pieces for 13 dollars; they are not that big and they were soggy and overcooked. Almost all five pieces fell apart or the skin ripped while we were trying to eat them.
July 19 · Lk Y.This is a restaurant specialized in Korean cold noodles. You placed the order at the cash register then picked up the food when your number is displayed. The naengmyun is refreshing and delicious. The water and bone broth are also self service. There is no kimchi came with the noodles but you can asked for it at the counter.
August 19 · Cody ChowMy go to place for cold noodle in Pal Park. It’s located on the second floor of a small shopping plaza on Broad Ave. You order and pay as you enter, grab a table and pay close up your food at the counter when your number is called. It’s self service so no tipping required. The cold noodle is very refreshing on a warm way and it can get pretty busy during lunch.
