4.0
Sushi Katsuei is easily one of my favorite sushi spots in Brooklyn, and a standout in Park Slope. I came in for the omakase and was blown away by both the quality and value. Every piece was exceptionally fresh, and the chef clearly puts thought into the progression of flavors—from delicate to bold, each bite had its own moment. The cuts were clean and precise, and the rice was perfectly seasoned—not too vinegary or heavy, just right. What I really appreciated was the balance they strike: the space is minimalist and serene without feeling pretentious, and the staff is attentive but not overbearing. You feel welcome whether you're a sushi enthusiast or someone trying omakase for the first time. The price point is also very fair for the quality you’re getting. Compared to Manhattan spots with similar quality, this felt like a steal. It’s the kind of place where you leave feeling genuinely satisfied, not just with the food, but the whole experience.I’d recommend sitting at the bar if you can—the interaction with the chef adds a personal touch that makes the meal even more memorable. This is a place I’ll definitely return to again and again. Highly recommended. - Cem Tulunay
