★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1In a sea of UWS omakase spots, this one swims ahead. Small space, big heart. The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming—special shoutout to the manager/main server who practically radiated good vibes and great recs. The fish? So fresh it probably had plans for later. Every bite was clean, buttery, and deeply satisfying. In a neighborhood packed with sushi options, this one delivers the goods and the good times.
April 27 · C FExceptional quality fish at a reasonable price (16-course for $98), presented with some truly unique flavors depending on the course. My partner got the 13 course for $75, also a nice value. There is nothing too crazy about the pmakase courses, but everything is done very well. Will definitely go back, might try a set + one of their fancy futomaki rolls instead of the omakase.
April 27 · Samuel AdlerThis is a great spot in the neighborhood! The omakase is great and reasonably priced. Thanks chef for giving an awesome dining experience. Their dessert pudding is so sooo delicious that makes me start asking the recipe.😂
June 21 · Shirley Q.Extremely disappointed with this omakase experience. For the price point, I expected far better service and ambiance. Unfortunately, the servers were completely inattentive—no one checked in to see if we needed anything, not even water refills, despite the restaurant having no AC. It was uncomfortably warm, and to make matters worse, they brought out loud industrial fans that totally ruined the atmosphere. If the AC isn’t running correctly, at least check in with guests and refresh their water with ice every 10–15 minutes. Matter of fact, they didn’t at least say something like “ oh sorry for the inconvenience, our air conditioning is etc etc etc”. Nothing .There were only two chefs—one clearly experienced, the other obviously still learning. The food was fine, but far from exceptional. The whole experience felt more like a casual sushi spot pretending to be a high-end omakase restaurant. What really ruined the night was the service—especially one server (possibly the owner) who had a terrible attitude. No smile, no engagement—just cold and dismissive, like she was doing us a favor. If you’re charging premium prices, you need to provide at least basic hospitality. And honestly, not even being able to pour a beer correctly? That was the final straw. It’s the little things, and they got all of them wrong. In the end, this place is all presentation with no substance. I won’t be back and don’t recommend it to anyone looking for a real omakase experience. Just another FJ sushi spot, IYKYK.
June 23 · Kevin D.Susi masu is omakase. This was the first experience. And it was excellent at this restaurant. The flavors were diverse and the food and its preparation were aesthetic.
