Sushi Seki Introduce
Sushi Seki is a name that resonates with serious sushi enthusiasts across New York City. Since its founding in 2002, this Upper East Side institution has cultivated a reputation for delivering a truly exceptional and authentic Japanese dining experience. It's more than just a restaurant; it’s a destination for those who appreciate the art and tradition of sushi-making. While the atmosphere is known for being lively and bustling, the quality of the food and the skill of the chefs are what truly set Sushi Seki apart. It's a place where every piece tells a story, and every flavor is a testament to the dedication of the culinary team.
The dining philosophy at Sushi Seki is centered around offering a versatile and high-quality experience. While many come for the renowned omakase, the extensive à la carte menu is a dream for those who prefer to explore on their own. The restaurant is particularly famous for its "Seki-style" nigiri, which often features unique, non-traditional pairings and sauces that enhance the flavor of the fresh fish without overpowering it. This creative approach to sushi has earned it a loyal following, and has even attracted the attention of world-renowned chefs.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere at Sushi Seki is welcoming and energetic. The staff is consistently praised for being friendly and attentive, with a dedication to ensuring every guest has a memorable experience. Whether it's explaining the intricacies of each omakase dish or accommodating special requests, the service is a key part of what makes Sushi Seki so highly regarded. It's an upscale but cozy environment where you can enjoy a quiet solo meal or a lively gathering with friends and family. The a la carte menu is a huge draw for those looking for a high-quality meal without the full omakase commitment, and the bar and dining options make it a fantastic choice for any occasion.
Sushi Seki is ideally located at 1143 1st Ave, New York, NY 10065, on the Upper East Side. This prime location places us in a vibrant and accessible neighborhood, making us a great destination for residents, local professionals, and tourists alike. Our position on 1st Avenue offers a convenient hub for both public transportation and foot traffic.
Accessibility is a key advantage of our location. We are situated within walking distance of several major subway lines, including the 4, 5, and 6, as well as numerous bus routes, making it easy to get to us from all over the city. The fact that the restaurant is always busy is a good sign—it's a testament to the quality of our food and service. Our location is a key part of our identity, allowing us to serve as a beloved neighborhood institution while also drawing visitors from around the globe.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I came to sushi seki for my first omakase experience and it did not disappoint! First, we got some appetizers and the fried chicken was very good, flavorful and tender. Then, the first omakase dish came out and I was stunned by the presentation, very pretty! That tuna was absolutely MIND-BLOWING! It was my first time having tuna that didn't taste fishy and it just melted in my mouth. Every single piece of sushi I had was so tasty, I couldn't stop smiling. On the next plate, my favorite was the oyster! It was so tasty and the seaweed added great flavor as well. On the next plate, I was scared to have their uni because of a past experience but it was actually sweet and very good! It made me realize I just didn't have quality sushi before. I really like the scallop nigiri as well and the hand roll was delicious! I was so full but needed to try their dessert and I was shocked that even the dessert was AMAZING. I almost ordered a second one, I believe it was a chocolate panna cotta. The service was great too, I have no complaints. Each piece was explained by the server and they made sure to accommodate our requests, each of us had different ones. They had a welcoming atmosphere as soon as we walked in. Overall, best experience I've ever had, the food was excellent. I've had omakase many times since then but sushi seki is still my number one choice, I'll be back again!
December 28 · AnnaTruly amazing, All omakaze are so tasty, yet delicate. This location are always busy which is good thing for them! So Reservation is recommended. The service also go along with food quality. Nice and friendly. The timing between each dish during busy time might take around 10-15min. We complete the whole set and total spend time there around 3hr. It’s a nice gathering with friend, family or coworker to have conversation during special dinner.
November 03 · Korapin SrisomSashimi tasted bad and felt like rubber, snow crab roll came without crab and only with tempura flakes, eel sauce had the consistency of water. Called to complain and ask for a refund and the hostess completely disregarded me and brushed it off. Paid $80 for 3 incomplete mediocre tasting sushi rolls and and 2 pieces of inedible salmon sashimi. Not only is the food quality bad, the customer service is even worst and they do not care if their customers are satisfied.
July 01 · Camila NeuhausThis was our neighborhood spot. No matter how long passes between visits we are always warmly greeted, like family. The sushi is outrageously good, Exceptionally fresh & beautifully presented. Their sake selection is top tier.
June 23 · Stella TInteresting and creative sushi place. Some dishes are really good - white tuna sushi with seared tomato and triple decker with caviar and uni. Other dishes are not so good, such as fried chicken and seaweed salad. But overall, it is a good sushi spot in the city
