This is a ramen restaurant near my home. I often see it. I went there today. The environment is very Japanese, I like it very much But the food was average, the fried chicken had thick flour and tasted bad, the char siu in the ramen was too burnt and had a bitter taste. The 2 Korean waitresses are pretty and provide good service. - Carrie zhu

What is Worth Choosing

When navigating the extensive menu at Tamashii Gold, a few offerings stand out as particularly noteworthy and worth trying for a genuine taste of their cuisine. The heart of the restaurant is undeniably its ramen selection. A first-timer might want to start with the signature Tamashii Ramen, which is the base Shio (salt) ramen, known for its light and clean yet flavorful broth, topped with chasyu pork, egg, and seaweed. For those who prefer a richer profile, the Miso Ramen, made with a broth that uses miso fermented from over twelve ingredients, is a crowd-pleaser and a cornerstone of the Japanese ramen experience. If you enjoy a kick of heat, the Kara Miso Ramen or the sesame-flavored Tantanmen are highly recommended spicy alternatives that are very popular among local diners.

Beyond the traditional ramen, Tamashii Gold offers excellent non-soup noodle options. The Tsuke-Men category is a specialty, offering cold noodles served alongside a concentrated dipping sauce (available in Tamashii, Shoyu, or Kara/Spicy flavors). This is a refreshing and distinct way to enjoy Japanese noodles, particularly appealing during the warmer New York months.

The variety of tapas and side dishes also makes this restaurant a great place for a small plates experience. The Gyoza (pan-fried dumplings) and Kara-Age (Japanese fried chicken) are staple starters. However, it's worth noting customer feedback, which, while generally positive about the overall experience and service, has occasionally mentioned inconsistencies with the fried chicken (Kara-Age) and the char siu in the ramen, suggesting a need for quality check on those specific items. Conversely, the Champon or Champon-style dishes, like the spicy seafood noodle soup, have been praised as consistently excellent, offering a rich, spicy, and satisfying alternative to the standard ramen.

For a non-noodle meal, the Donburi section is a strong contender. The Katsu Don (rice bowl topped with a simmered cutlet, egg, and onion) or the Unagi-Don (BBQ eel over rice) provide hearty, classic Japanese comfort food. Finally, the extensive beverage menu, including Japanese sodas like Ramune and the milky Calpico, along with a selection of alcohol, means you can perfectly pair your meal with an authentic Japanese drink or a classic American cocktail. Overall, the wide selection of specialized ramen, cold noodles, and traditional tapas makes Tamashii Gold a worthwhile culinary destination in Bayside, Queens.
