The DL | Best Rooftop Lounge NYC Introduce
In a city where nightlife is an art form, The DL stands as a masterpiece, offering a multi-level experience that goes far beyond the typical bar or club. Located on Delancey Street, this venue is a dynamic trifecta: a stunning rooftop lounge, a vibrant dance club, and an upscale restaurant all under one roof. It’s a place that effortlessly transitions from a chic after-work happy hour to a high-energy dance party as the night progresses. The DL’s design, which includes an all-weather retractable rooftop, ensures that the party never has to stop, regardless of the famously unpredictable New York weather. The ambiance is a blend of trendy and casual, with an upscale touch that draws in a diverse and sophisticated crowd. It’s a true one-stop destination for those seeking a multifaceted night out in the city, offering something for every mood and occasion.
The layout of The DL is what makes it so unique and appealing. Each of its three floors offers a distinct vibe and atmosphere. The first floor, often referred to as Dinner on Ludlow, features a restaurant with a lush decor and a menu that includes sophisticated dishes like NY Strip and Braised Lamb Shank. The second floor, known as the Red Room, is described as a "sexy and sultry" space perfect for dancing and more intimate gatherings. Finally, the third-floor rooftop lounge is the crown jewel. With its tropical, "South Beach-esque" aesthetic, complete with live plants and fountains, it provides a breathtaking escape from the urban hustle. The rooftop’s panoramic views of the Lower East Side and the Williamsburg Bridge are simply stunning, creating a backdrop that is both luxurious and authentically New York. This multi-level design allows patrons to curate their own experience, whether they want to enjoy a sit-down dinner, grab a cocktail at the bar, or dance the night away under the stars.
The DL's prime location at 95 Delancey St on the third floor, New York, NY 10002, USA, places it at the center of the Lower East Side's bustling nightlife scene. This vibrant neighborhood is a major destination for entertainment and culture, making the venue highly accessible for both New Yorkers and tourists. The location is conveniently close to several public transportation options, and for those who choose to drive, the area offers free street parking, a rare and valuable amenity in Manhattan. The building’s wheelchair-accessible entrance and restroom ensure that the venue is welcoming to everyone. The neighborhood’s trendy and energetic vibe is reflected in the club itself, which seamlessly fits into its surroundings while still standing out as a premier destination. Its address on Delancey Street makes it an easy and practical choice for a night out, a private event, or even a daytime brunch, as the venue also offers daytime events.
The DL is more than just a place to get a drink; it's a full-service entertainment and event venue. They offer a comprehensive bar program with an extensive selection of alcohol, beer, wine, and great cocktails, with a menu featuring classic and creative concoctions. The venue is also a live music and performance hub, with DJs playing a wide mix of genres, from old club classics to hip hop, R&B, and Kompa music, which is a Haitian dance music genre. The venue's kitchen provides a full food menu, including small bites, appetizers, and main courses, which means you can come for dinner and stay for the party. While a reviewer noted that food on the rooftop is often tied to bottle service, the full dining experience on the first floor is a major draw. The DL is well-equipped to host a variety of private events, from corporate gatherings to birthday parties, with flexible floor plans and a dedicated events team. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My visit to The DL, specifically their rooftop lounge, was an experience I thoroughly enjoyed. Arriving a bit later in the evening, I found the line manageable, and the ambiance on the rooftop was immediately appealing. It started off with a relaxed vibe, but by 1 AM, the place was buzzing with energy. I particularly appreciated the mixed crowd; while there were plenty of people in their 20s, I met many in their 30s and older, which made for a comfortable and inclusive atmosphere. The DJ kept the energy high, playing a fantastic mix of old club classics and new hits, along with top 40s, R&B, popular hip hop, and LatinX. While I sometimes wished songs would play a bit longer, the overall selection was great for dancing. The staff were polite and attentive throughout the night, ensuring drinks were served efficiently. There's also a convenient balcony area for those who smoke. While the main dining area and bar seemed to offer a full experience, I noted that food on the rooftop lounge appeared to be tied to bottle service, and the kitchen might close earlier for general orders, which is something to keep in mind. Despite this, the drinks were well-made, and the overall presentation upon entering the rooftop was impressive. I had a genuinely good time and would love to return, perhaps for a daytime brunch or an after-work party, to experience a different side of this vibrant NYC spot.
July 19 · Mohammad Mazhar HussainSo this was my second time pulling up to Kompa Tuesdays, and it honestly gets better every time. The vibe was unmatched—smooth Kompa music all night, good energy, and people actually came to dance and enjoy themselves. It felt like a little escape from the usual NYC scene. The crowd was mature, stylish, and full of good vibes. Drinks were strong, the DJ didn’t miss once, and I left with my legs sore from dancing (again 😅). This is officially a weekly tradition for me now. If you haven’t been, you’re seriously missing out.
August 01 · Pierre ReviewsIf you are over 40 and/or Gen X who likes to go dancing sometimes this is a fun place to do it. Going before 11 pm was key because we were able to get a lounge seat next to the dance floor. I don’t know about the drink service for certain but I’m guessing its good because every time one of the men went to get drinks they came back pretty quick, probably because they recognized them and returned frequently enough. I felt this was the perfect set up because when the dance floor got more crowded we were able to dance beside the sitting area. We probably stayed until about 1:30 and had so much fun dancing. The music was a mix with top 40s, R&B, popular hip hop and LatinX, down through early 2000s. We did not feel weird at all while most there were ages 20s to 30s, with a few older here and there. Highly recommend.
June 25 · Michele KimI came here as part of an online group meetup. I got there a little late but the host was still able to get me in. I came around 11 and there was hardly a line. I went to the rooftop party and it was great. It was almost empty when I arrived and by 1 is was packed. The ambiance was nice. The crowd was mixed. Mostly 20's but I met many people 30's + . Which was nice since I didn't want to be the only one in that age groups. There is an a balcony area for smoking. I don't smoke but I guess it's convenient for those who do. Staff was polite and attentive. DJ was good. Played a mix the old club classics and new hits. Just wish he would've felt the crowd more and let's some songs play longer. Overall good time. I'd love to come back with friends, preferably in the daytime if they do brunch or after-work party.
July 07 · J. ElingtonWe first started our night in the main dining area/ bar! It is definitely 5 stars! Great drinks music atmosphere…but we had then went to the lounge up in the rooftop..ladies it’s a long walk up and down so becareful if wearing heels …great presentation when entering …now the things turned for the worse ….when lounge opens food is only available with bottle service …but they Said the kitchen is closed …we did order drinks and the bartenders are horrible . The music went from too low too too loud …the people attending literally was wearing clothing like they just woke up ..hoodies and sweats .. not a great atmosphere…
