For New York locals searching for a reliable, high-quality bakery and coffee experience in Nassau County, The French Workshop in Plainview remains a highly recommended destination. What makes it worth choosing is the consistent excellence of its core products: the pastries are repeatedly praised as "truly delicious" and "beautiful," and the coffee menu is extensive enough to satisfy any demanding palate, from the simplicity of a **House Blend** to the decadence of a **Nutella Latte**.
Beyond the quality of the food and drink, the logistical convenience is a significant factor. It is worth noting that while the quality of the products is consistently excellent, some customers have offered constructive feedback on service and operational "nuances." These include occasional loud staff behavior during slower hours and temporary maintenance issues, such as dirty dishes being piled up or a lack of paper towels in the restroom during a late-night visit. However, these are often seen as isolated issues rather than a reflection of the core product quality, as demonstrated by the customer who was a "big" fan and expressed confidence that their "next experience will be better." By focusing on the delicious pastries, expert coffee preparation (including making quick adjustments when needed), and the overall "cozy" atmosphere, The French Workshop provides a top-tier European-style bakery and cafe experience that makes it a highly valuable stop for any Long Island resident.

The French Workshop Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Let me begin by saying I’m a “big” fan of The French Workshop… Sadly, my experience tonight was a bit underwhelming, so, my review is mixed. The pastries we chose were great, truly delicious tasting and absolutely “beautiful”. The barista didn’t add enough flavor to my wife’s coffee, so, we had to ask for an adjustment (it happens); however, at 8:40pm, a new barista arrived and made loud noises as he was literally “throwing” metal cups behind the counter & screaming to another staff member. This was so distracting, we nearly left. There were no paper towels in the bathroom and the hand dryer isn’t working. The dirty dishes were piled up & weren’t taken away. Little nuances like these make a big difference when you want to enjoy your coffee and pastries in house. I am sorry if these comments come across as harsh, but, I want to be fair and constructive as I know how hard it is to run a food business. Moving forward, you may want to assign a supervisor or manager to be on duty to help “see” what’s going on. I’m confident my next experience will be better.
July 26 · Feta ManiacNice spot for coffee and pastries, with a beautiful display case that makes everything look tempting. The atmosphere is cozy and good for a quick meet-up, but prices feel high for the portion sizes. Service can also feel rushed when it gets busy.
October 02 · Deepnain KaurI asked for a chicken avocado sandwich and either I got something else or they forgot to put any avocado. I asked for the sandwich to not be warmed up. They technically almost burned it. The bread is hard rock. I ordered the sandwich, which they heat up ( to the point it can’t be eaten without braking your teeth) and some small cakes . They put everything in the same bag. The hot sandwich melted the chocolate cakes and by the time I got home I had to throw away some of the melted cakes and the sandwich. I go to this place very often, their sourdough bread and lava cakes are the best I ever had, but never experienced something like that. I don’t think I will go back or I will check everything on the spot so I don’t have to waste a trip and money ( they are very expensive).
October 02 · cristina galeaOlympic Gold Standard🥇🥇The French Workshop gets the #1 spot on my podium 💪💪.I have reviewed over 100 bakeries in the tri state area. This brand does it better than all the rest.1. Quality - you can taste the gourmet flavors & textures. Baked fresh on premise using only the finest ingredients2. Quantity - good portion sizes that never disappoint3. Venue - glamorous & glitzy. I feel like a celebrity on each visit4. Service - always polite & attentiveManagement is on their A Game here. Thank you 🙏🏻 Doug for providing a wonderful experience to the customers! WELL DONEGoogle needs to create a 7 stars ⭐️ category for establishments that really shine apart from the rest…*Tip to management:The checkout process needs to be under 10 minutes. Look at Paris B.8/18/25very slow service 😅. 15-20 minutes for coffee & pastry. If I’m in a rush, will go to neighbors instead.
August 18 · Frugal CyclistGreat spot for desserts. They have some very good desserts. Specially there pistachio ones. The chocolate options I am not a fan of, and I am a chocolate person, so I always get something with chocolate to try lol. Seating is limited, and customer service is okay.
April 15 · Mario V. RijoI’ve been coming here since they opened but much less recently with other options nearby. At first, I was excited that we’re finally getting patisseries on Long Island. For some reason, the food here is always below average. The desserts and savory items are stale more than half the time whereas I never have the same issue at their Garden City location.Random kids sometimes bring in their Dunkin Donuts without ordering anything and take up many tables. The music is a toss up, from EDM to bacchata.Good place to do work but try to stick to the drinks and for desserts, get one of the cakes - they tend to be a safer bet than eclairs, tarts…
