The Press Room Introduce
In the heart of New York City, where every corner seems to hold a new discovery, The Press Room stands out as a hidden gem that offers more than just a place to grab a drink. This bar, nestled inside the unique and beloved Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, provides a one-of-a-kind experience that seamlessly blends movie history, expert mixology, and a surprisingly welcoming atmosphere for all ages. This article is your comprehensive guide to understanding what makes The Press Room a special destination in the bustling Financial District, from its intriguing location and excellent drinks to the unique features that set it apart from other bars in the city.
The concept of a bar inside a movie theater might sound simple, but The Press Room elevates it to an art form. Its name pays tribute to the bygone era of movie promotion, with decor that includes an extensive collection of original printing molds and vintage newspaper cinema advertisements from the 1930s to the 1980s. This isn't just a place to wait for a movie; it's a living museum where you can tour through movie history while enjoying a top-notch cocktail. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it a comfortable spot for a pre-show drink or a dedicated evening out. As one customer review highlights, the experience is so positive that it's a great "pre-movie drink experience with the kids," a testament to its broad appeal.
The location of The Press Room is both intriguing and convenient. Situated at 28 Liberty Street, in the 28 Liberty St Floor 2B Suite, New York, NY 10005, USA, the bar is part of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in the heart of the Financial District. Finding the bar is an adventure in itself, as you take escalators or elevators down into the building’s lower levels to find the theater and its bar. This unique subterranean location creates a cool, speakeasy-like feel. Its address makes it highly accessible for those working or living in the Wall Street area, and a great destination for tourists exploring Lower Manhattan.
While the specific amenities like wheelchair accessibility are not explicitly detailed in the provided information, its location inside a modern cinema and large office building at 28 Liberty Street strongly suggests a high level of accessibility for all patrons. The fact that a customer review mentions having a great time "with the kids" also points to an environment that is accommodating to families, which is a significant plus in a busy urban area.

The Press Room Reviews
We had a great pre-movie drink experience with the kids. It was great that they had things to interact with so mom and dad could relax and enjoy a well made old fashioned. The kids really enjoyed watching the fresh squeezed orange juice get made and getting to taste it was a nice surprise.
July 09 · Samantha HydeBartender David is amazing and so are his drinks!! Please come to The Press Room Bar inside of Alamo Drafthouse while he is here!! Such hospitality!
June 21 · Luis GomezI like the beer selection, and the design of the space is large and airy, but it's just too difficult to visit this bar (in the basement of a luxury office building). Part of the Drafthouse movie theater, it would be an ideal pregame spot for a close-in movie, or more likely an after work hangout for folks in the office building or working around the area. Most beers are $10 and above... Or $9 for domestic, basic beers. Yikes.
March 02 · Michael MosesThis place was awesome! Up and coming. A hidden gem. Gerry is the BEST. My friend and I are from out of town and came to New York City for a weekend getaway, Gerry 100% took time to make sure we had the best experience not just at the establishment but also in NYC itself. And the DJ was also super accommodating, friendly and nice! We felt so welcome here as out of towners! Thank you for being so kind and for your great suggestions! The cocktails were also AMAZING!
