Awesome hotpot especially with the spicy broth. Got medium spice but not as spicy and numbing as I anticipated when I was in Chongqing. Service is really nice. Clean and bright. First time I feel so relaxed eating hotpot and not being rushed or stuffing myself to the fullest. Soup base is $11.99 and most dishes are very affordable. My mum says the servings are small, but I think they are just right. I’m so used to eating ayce style and over ordering at Haidilao. This place feels slow paced and I get to really enjoy every single little dishes. Appreciate their blend of oil cans and they really make the spicy food more mild. I also love their tea which they use for the spicy soup base. I drank almost two of those pitchers of their tea which has a Smokey aroma. Mum didn’t enjoy as much so she opted for water. There are variety of drinks from soft drinks to beers to soju. I’m writing this review not just for the free dessert, but truly enjoying this hotpot experience. - Jiaying Wang

野肆火锅YeS HotPot Introduce

Introduction / Overview

For New Yorkers craving a truly authentic and deeply satisfying Sichuan hot pot experience, look no further than 野肆火锅YeS HotPot in the vibrant heart of Flushing, Queens. This isn't just another restaurant; it's a culinary destination designed to transport you straight to the bustling, flavorful streets of China's Sichuan province. YeS HotPot has carved out a distinct niche in the highly competitive NYC dining scene by focusing on quality, authenticity, and a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere—a welcome contrast to the typical fast-paced city meal.

The restaurant is classified as a Restaurant and is particularly popular for Dinner. It cultivates a Casual, Cozy, and Trendy environment, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely meal with Groups. While many hot pot spots encourage an "all-you-can-eat" frenzy, YeS HotPot embraces a thoughtful, slow-paced dining style where you can genuinely savor every bite of the expertly curated, small-portion dishes.

YeS HotPot’s approach to hot pot is rooted in traditional techniques. For instance, the spicy beef tallow broth, a Sichuan staple, is highly praised for being well-balanced—flavorful and satisfying without feeling overly greasy. True connoisseurs will also appreciate the use of Lao Ying tea when refilling the spicy broth, an authentic detail that speaks volumes about their commitment to traditional flavors. Beyond the spice, the rich, umami-laden mushroom broth, featuring finely chopped mushrooms and cordyceps flowers, offers a deeply flavorful non-spicy option.

The culinary philosophy here is simple: offer an impressive selection of high-quality, authentic ingredients. While they opt for a “small-portion dish” concept, which ensures you can try a greater variety of items, the overall experience is focused on enjoying a genuine Sichuan meal with friends and family. This dedication to authentic preparation and a comfortable setting is what makes YeS HotPot a standout choice for local residents and food adventurers across the five boroughs.

Location and Accessibility

YeS HotPot is strategically situated in one of New York City's most dynamic and culturally rich neighborhoods: Flushing, Queens. The restaurant’s address is 142-38 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY 11354, USA. Downtown Flushing is known as one of New York City's largest central business districts and is a major hub for authentic Asian cuisine, making this location a prime spot for a true cultural and culinary immersion.

As a major transportation nexus, Flushing provides exceptional access, which is crucial for New York City patrons:

For Subway users, the 7 Train terminates at the Flushing – Main Street Station, a significant transit hub that is within walking distance of the restaurant. Additionally, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Port Washington line also stops at Flushing Main Street, offering a fast connection from other parts of Queens and Manhattan.

For those traveling by car, YeS HotPot offers the rare New York City amenity of a Free parking lot, alongside the option of Paid street parking, which is a huge advantage in this bustling area. However, as Downtown Flushing is a high-traffic destination, patrons should be prepared for potential congestion. The proximity to major highways like the Long Island Expressway (I-495) and the Van Wyck Expressway also makes it a straightforward drive from various points across Long Island, Brooklyn, and other parts of Queens.

The neighborhood around Roosevelt Avenue is constantly energetic, packed with shops, markets, and other eateries, positioning YeS HotPot perfectly for a night out or as the centerpiece of a larger Flushing exploration.

Features / Highlights

YeS HotPot distinguishes itself with several key features that enhance the authentic Sichuan hot pot experience.

  • Authentic Broths: They offer classic options like the fiery spicy broth, made with beef tallow, which is noted for its well-balanced heat rather than an overpowering greasiness. The rich Mushroom Broth with cordyceps flowers offers a deep, savory umami flavor for a non-spicy alternative.
  • Rare Authentic Touches: The practice of using Lao Ying tea to replenish the spicy broth is a genuinely authentic Sichuan detail that hot pot aficionados will recognize and appreciate.
  • Exceptional Ingredient Quality: Must-order items include the Black Beef Tripe and Rocket Squid. The tripe, when cooked for the recommended quick 8 seconds, is described as exceptionally fresh, crisp, and flavorful.
  • Diverse Menu Selection: The menu goes far beyond typical meat and vegetable pairings, featuring a remarkable range of offals (like Duck Intestines, Pig Brain, Aorta), seafood (like Shredded Eel and Scallops), and specialized hot pot items (Bubble Tofu Skin, Gongcai).
  • Beverage and Dessert Selection: A wide selection of drinks includes traditional options like Oriental Leaf Teas (Jasmine, Puer, Oolong) and unique beverages like Fruit Teas (Orange Yakult, Grapefruit Yakult) and a variety of Snow Ice and Ice Cream desserts (Taro, Mango Sago, Peach).
  • Customizable Condiments: The availability of special oil cans (likely a chili oil blend) allows diners to temper the heat of the spicy broth, making the experience enjoyable for varying tolerance levels.

What is Worth Choosing

For New York diners looking for an unparalleled hot pot experience, YeS HotPot is a worthwhile choice for several compelling reasons:

First and foremost is the authenticity of the broth and ingredients. The signature spicy broth delivers a classic Sichuan profile that is intense yet balanced, and the attention to detail—like the use of Lao Ying tea for refills—shows a commitment to genuine regional flavor that is often missing in Westernized interpretations. Paired with a customizable array of sauces and the availability of a flavorful mushroom broth, the core of the meal is stellar.

Secondly, the specialized ingredient selection is a major draw. For those seeking the true taste of Sichuan hot pot, the menu is a goldmine. The exceptional freshness of items like the Black Beef Tripe (cooked for that perfect crunch) and the inclusion of items like Duck Intestines, Bullfrog Legs, and the crunchy stem vegetable Gongcai elevate the dining adventure far above the standard. This focus on variety, facilitated by the small-portion dish concept, allows diners to curate a complex and personalized meal, sampling a rich tapestry of textures and flavors.

Finally, the dining atmosphere contributes significantly to its appeal. The ambiance is described as cozy and relaxed, promoting a slow-paced, enjoyable meal—a true luxury in the non-stop pace of New York City. While the individual dish sizes may add up in cost, the trade-off is a high-quality, memorable meal that prioritizes the experience and the flavor of carefully selected items over volume. If you value a delicious, authentic, and unrushed gathering with friends, YeS HotPot provides an outstanding culinary getaway right here in Flushing.
