Great atmosphere with unfortunately lots of attitude from the staff. Asked about a milk alternative and was reprimanded for not reading the menu, where, apparently, it states that only whole milk is available. Not worth coming back for good pour over coffee with an attitude like that greeting you. The Olive Oil cake is way too dry. - Michael M

Abraço Introduce

In a city where coffee shops can often feel like transient workspaces, Abraço stands apart as a true sanctuary for coffee lovers. More than just a cafe, it's an institution in the East Village, celebrated for its unique, no-frills, and highly focused approach to coffee and food. This women-owned business has cultivated a loyal following by prioritizing the quality of its product and the warmth of its atmosphere. Unlike many establishments that cater to a laptop-driven culture, Abraço encourages conversation and human connection. It’s a place where you can grab an expertly made espresso or individually dripped coffee and truly savor the moment. The menu, while concise, is thoughtfully crafted with a selection of delicious small plates and semi-sweet treats that perfectly complement the beverages. Abraço is a neighborhood hub that has become a destination for locals and tourists alike who are seeking an authentic, cozy, and trendy New York experience.

Abraço is located at 81 E 7th St, New York, NY 10003, USA, right in the heart of the East Village. Its prime location makes it easily accessible for anyone in the East Village and Lower East Side, whether you're walking from a nearby apartment or exploring the area as a tourist. Abraço offers a variety of services to meet the needs of its diverse clientele. The cafe provides both dine-in and takeout options, making it a versatile choice for a quick bite or a leisurely chat. A notable feature is its commitment to serving "to stay" coffee in ceramic cups, as the owners believe it is the only way to truly appreciate a well-made espresso. However, they also accommodate to-go orders. The menu is a perfect example of quality over quantity, with a small but expertly curated selection of items. The offerings include a variety of coffee drinks, from a classic Espresso to a rich Coffee Mocha. Beyond coffee, Abraço also serves a selection of alcohol, including beer, wine, cocktails, and hard liquor, making it a great spot for a happy hour or a pre-dinner drink. The cafe also offers organic dishes and vegetarian options, showing a commitment to high-quality ingredients. Whether you're looking for a quick breakfast, a light lunch, or a post-meal dessert, Abraço has you covered with its unique and flavorful offerings.

Abraço’s highlights are centered on its dedication to quality and its distinctive atmosphere. The staff is known for their fast service, ensuring that even during busy times, you won't have to wait long for your coffee. The atmosphere is another major highlight, described as cozy, trendy, and casual, with a "no-laptops" policy that fosters a social and conversational environment. The cafe is popular for breakfast and solo dining, and is a designated LGBTQ+ friendly space. The food menu, though small, is full of delicious and unique items, with the Olive Oil Cake being a fan favorite. The ability to pay with credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments adds to the convenience.

The menu at Abraço is a testament to the idea that a small menu can be incredibly impactful when done right. The "Abraco" coffee section is a star, with options that showcase the depth of flavor in their house-roasted beans. The individually dripped coffee is a must-try for any coffee enthusiast. The food menu, while small, is equally impressive. The Onion Marmalade, Swiss Cheese & Potato On Focaccia is a perfect savory option for a quick bite, while the Roasted Vegetable & Cheddar Fritaffa is a light yet satisfying choice. The "Semi-sweets" section is where the cafe's creativity truly shines. The Olive Oil Cake is a beloved item, with many customers raving about its rich flavor. Other unique treats like the Curved Olive Cookie and Rose Almond Cookie provide a delightful twist on classic sweets. Abraço also serves a selection of organic dishes and has vegetarian options available, demonstrating a commitment to quality and diverse dietary needs.
