What is worth choosing All'Antico Vinaio?
Choosing All'Antico Vinaio is about embracing the experience of a legendary Italian sandwich shop right in the heart of New York. The primary reason to visit is the food itself. While customer reviews present a mixed bag of opinions—with some finding the sandwiches delicious and others expressing disappointment—the consensus often points to the quality of the bread and the generosity of the portions. The bread, a key component, is frequently praised for its quality and taste, providing a solid foundation for the fillings. The sandwiches are known to be "huge" and "ginormous," a significant value proposition in a city where food can often be expensive and small in portion size. Customers consistently report that the sandwiches are large enough for two people, or a single meal with leftovers. The unique spreads and fillings, such as pistachio cream and truffle cream, also offer a memorable and distinct flavor profile that separates them from standard deli fare. The convenience of the location at Brookfield Place is another major reason to choose this spot. It’s an ideal lunch destination for anyone in the Financial District, providing a quick, easy, and satisfying meal. The casual, takeout-focused model aligns perfectly with the fast pace of a New Yorker's day. While some visitors have expressed concerns about inconsistency in ingredients or the bread's texture, a common theme in the positive reviews is that when the sandwich is made correctly, it is a truly fantastic experience. The high expectations set by the brand's international fame and the general "hype" surrounding it can sometimes lead to disappointment, but for many, the quality of the ingredients and the sheer size of the sandwiches make it a worthwhile choice. All'Antico Vinaio is a good place to visit when you want a substantial, flavorful, and authentic Italian sandwich that is a significant step up from your average lunch. It's a place to give a chance, especially if you're looking for a hearty and satisfying meal in a convenient and central location.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The sandwich was good, but didn’t meet the high expectations I had from the hype. I had the La Paradiso and the bread was very good but I was looking for more flavor all around. I was surprised to find out only 1 meat per sandwich which is different than what online ordering shows. I’ll likely be back for a different sandwich but won’t go out of my way for it.
May 06 · Matt HaubenSadly, this restaurant was a complete disappointment. In a city with amazing sandwich shops, this is clearly not one of them. There were two main problems with the sandwiches. The first was that the bread was extremely tough and hard to eat…nat all what one would think an Italian focaccia style bread would be. I don’t know if it was because the dough was overworked, or if the bread was just old, but either way the bread was completely unenjoyable. The second problem is that the spreads they use are very potent. This is not in itself a problem, but it becomes a problem when it is not applied evenly across the sandwich. There were large globes in certain areas and none whatsoever in others. I’m sure if there was a thin layer across the entire sandwich. It would’ve been much more enjoyable, but the way it was presented on both sandwiches made the flavor way too strong in certain areas. For a restaurant that has so many positive reviews. I was really expecting better. When you pay over $45 for two sandwiches, you have an expectation that they will be edible and enjoyable. These two were not. Unfortunately, we took our order to go and did not find the problem until we got back to the hotel. Lesson learned, we will not be back. This review is specifically for the lLberty Street location.
December 24 · James SylerAfter trying the world-famous All’Antico Vinaio in Florence, I was hyped to learn that a new location was coming to Brookfield Place. I was skeptical at first, but once I took my first bite, it brought back wonderful memories. I ordered the La Paradiso, but I swapped the mortadella with ham and added arugula. The sandwich also comes with tomatoes, pistachio cream, and a creamy burrata-like cheese. The flavor was fresh and vibrant - well crafted and balanced. The bread itself was also great - crispy and soft. The location is great too - if you’re taking the ferry from Jersey City, I would highly recommend stopping by this place and grabbing a sandwich. It’s huge. And will likely keep you full for most of the day.
September 20 · Yev YakI’ve been to All’Antico Vinaio in New York and three times in Los Angeles — and it’s official: this is a disgrace. A total scam hiding behind the name of Italian tradition.Cheap ingredients, dry bread, tasteless fillings — and outrageous prices on top of it. Nothing authentic, nothing even decent. It’s an insult to real Italian food. Shameful. Never again.
July 20 · Luca AnselmiAbsolutely nothing special except it’s a v large sandwich, which they don’t cut so not the easiest to eat. Basic caprese, some oil, no vinegar offered. Do not toast them because the bread is warm 🤷🏼♀️ (sort of).
