Apollo Bagels Introduce
In a city where the "bagel wars" are a very real and fiercely debated topic, Apollo Bagels has quickly emerged as a serious contender, garnering city-wide attention and a devoted following. This isn't your traditional New York bagel shop, and that's precisely the point. Apollo Bagels has carved out a unique identity by specializing in sourdough bagels that are toasted just enough to create a crispy outer edge while maintaining a signature airy and chewy interior. This approach has proven to be a refreshing and compelling alternative to the classic bagel, and for many, the hype is absolutely justified. It's a place that has been praised on social media and in news outlets alike, attracting long lines on weekends and a steady stream of dedicated customers on weekdays.
The shop's innovative take on the bagel sandwich, particularly its open-faced style, is a major part of its appeal. This method allows for a more balanced flavor profile in every bite, preventing the toppings from being squeezed out and ensuring a perfect ratio of bagel to schmear. The cream cheese is applied in a thin, even layer, which highlights the quality of both the bagel and the toppings. Apollo Bagels keeps its menu focused and simple, but the execution is impeccable. Their ability to "nail the formula" for their open-faced creations, combined with the high-quality ingredients, is what sets them apart. They prove that sometimes, less is more, especially when every component is handled with care and precision. The result is a bagel that is both a delicious meal and a work of art.
Apollo Bagels is located at 242 E 10th St, New York, NY 10003, USA, a prime spot in the vibrant and historic East Village. The area is well-connected by New York's robust public transportation network, with multiple subway stations and bus routes a short walk away. For those who choose to drive, paid street parking is available, though it can be scarce, as is common in this part of Manhattan.
Despite its popularity and the lines that can form, especially on weekends, the shop is designed for a quick visit. The service is fast and efficient, and the wait is considered well worth it by many customers. Inside, the shop has plenty of seats, making it a comfortable place to enjoy your bagel. The clean and well-maintained restrooms are an added bonus, contributing to a pleasant experience. The overall layout and accessibility of the space, even with its small footprint, are optimized to handle the crowds it draws, ensuring a smooth process from ordering to enjoying your food.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Probably the most talked-about bagel sandwiches in the city right now, and the hype felt justified.Saw crazy lines last time I was in the city, so I came here super early this time (7:20 ish) on a Sunday. Only 2 teams ahead of us. The order still took about 10 minutes to be prepared, but it was worth the wait.Open-faced bagels seem to be a trend across the country, but I’ve never been fully convinced they’re better than the classic sandwich. Here, though, they nailed the formula. Bagels here are toasted by default, but very lightly. Just enough to crisp the outer edge while keeping those airy pockets intact for that signature chew. The cream cheese was handled with the same restraint. Thin & even, so each bite felt balanced. Both lox & tomato bagel sandwiches were great. Lox was clean, not overly smoky or salty, though probably not cured in-house. Would usually say the lox bagel sandwich was my favorite without hesitation, but the tomato bagel was slightly more enjoyable. Ripe tomato, salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil, a simple, almost obvious, but impeccable execution.
September 03 · Jea KimOne of the best bagels I've had.I ordered the salmon, and we also ordered a tomato one, and a plain one.The Salmon was excellent. All the bagels are two faces, no bottoms as in both sides get the same toppings. The Salmon was fresh, flavorful, the cream was covered well and the bagel felt soft, and the capers were for the first time for me not hard or dry. I loved it overall and would come back again.Clean bathrooms as well, and plenty of seats.
August 07 · Azzam AzizQuite possibly the best bagel I've ever had in my life and I have had a lot of bagels. We took the train down and across town to see what all the hype was about. We came on a Wednesday morning around 10:00 a.m. and there was absolutely no lineup. I love how the menu is very short and sweet, making it easy to order and likely making it easy for the staff to prepare the food so fast. I had the everything bagel with chive cream cheese and tomatoes. The crunch on the bagel was like nothing I've ever had before, and the inside of the bagel was soft and just the right amount of chewiness. Hands down worth the effort to get there. I will certainly come back.

August 01 · Mary S. SestiOh-my-God-this-place. Apollo Bagels is hands-down our favorite bagel in NYC. The line might look long sometimes, but it moves fast and it’s absolutely worth the wait. The bagels are freshly made, with the perfect chew and just the right crust. My go-to order? A plain bagel with cream cheese and fresh tomato, olive oil and pepper. Simple, fresh, and unbeatable.
