Artichoke Basille's Pizza Introduce
Welcome to the heart of Greenwich Village, where a true New York pizza experience awaits you at Artichoke Basille's Pizza. Forget everything you thought you knew about pizza and prepare your taste buds for something truly extraordinary. This iconic spot, located on the lively MacDougal Street, has earned a reputation that extends far beyond its neighborhood, drawing in a crowd of loyal locals, curious tourists, and hungry college students from nearby NYU. It’s more than just a pizza joint; it's a culinary landmark known for its one-of-a-kind slices and vibrant, casual atmosphere. If you’re a New Yorker, you’ve probably heard the name, and if you’re visiting, consider this your essential guide to a must-try meal. From its famous Artichoke pizza, which has a cult following all its own, to a menu that offers a variety of classic and inventive options, Artichoke Basille's is a staple of the city’s dining scene.
The restaurant's unassuming storefront belies the big flavors inside. The focus here is on quality, comfort, and a unique take on a classic dish. Instead of just another pepperoni slice, you'll find rich, creamy, and flavorful creations that redefine what pizza can be. This isn’t a fancy, sit-down restaurant, but rather a perfect spot for a quick lunch, a satisfying dinner, or a much-needed late-night bite. The fast-paced, friendly service ensures you'll get your hands on a delicious slice without the wait, making it an ideal stop for those on the go. The ambiance is casual and trendy, reflecting the eclectic energy of Greenwich Village itself. Whether you’re stopping in for a solo slice or grabbing a pie with friends, you'll feel right at home in this bustling, no-frills establishment that's all about the food.
What truly sets Artichoke Basille's apart is its menu. While there are a few classic options like the Regular Slice or Margherita, the real stars are the signature pies. The Artichoke pizza is a creamy, decadent masterpiece, loaded with a savory blend of artichoke hearts, spinach, cream sauce, and cheese on a thick, satisfying crust. It’s the kind of slice that people travel for, and it's a flavor you won't soon forget. Another fan favorite is the Crab pizza, which offers a surprising and delicious twist with real crab meat. For those who prefer a classic with a twist, the Vodka and Vodka Pepperoni slices provide a rich tomato cream sauce base that's both hearty and flavorful. The menu also includes the Meatball, Meatball Pepperoni, and Sicilian slices, ensuring there's something to please every palate. Each slice is generous, with a satisfyingly thick and crisp crust that holds up to the hearty toppings. You can also purchase full pies for a group, with most signature pies available for a fixed price.
Beyond the savory pies, the beverage list is simple but effective, featuring a variety of sodas like Coca Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite, and Ginger Ale, as well as bottled water. This focus on a straightforward, quality menu is a testament to the restaurant's confidence in its signature offerings. Artichoke Basille’s has successfully carved out its niche by offering a truly unique and memorable pizza experience that stands out in a city full of pizza options. Its commitment to these specialty pies is what has made it a genuine institution, a place that New Yorkers return to again and again for a taste of something truly special.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1It’s an amazing place for their speciality artichoke pizza. There are other options which was good too I personally liked the crab pizza. Street parking available but don’t count on it. Walkable from Washington square park , there are couple of seating available for dining in but best bet is takeaway. Would def recommend and come back.
August 25 · Prabha ShankarThis pic really speaks for itself! It was my first time trying artichoke pizza, and it did not disappoint. The flavor was incredible, rich and well-balanced and even with the heavier toppings, the crust stayed crisp underneath. I especially loved the cheesy flavor throughout. Seriously a great slice, highly recommend!
June 24 · James GreenThe most perfect slice of pizza I've ever had! No exaggeration, the kind you'll have dreams about afterward from thousands of miles away.Got their signature white sauce -- even though the slices are MASSIVE and drizzled with olive oil on top, it's still somehow NOT overly greasy, and I was able to inhale the entire slice without any trouble. Perfectly crisp thin but well risen crust, seasoned well without being too salty, and perfectly flavourful (somewhat subtle and multilayered yet not too bland to taste only of cheese). The service was friendly, warm, and efficient, and there wasn't a line either around noon. HIGHLY recommend going out of your way for this location - will definitely be back next time I'm in the city!
April 29 · KatArtichoke Pizza is my number one stop whenever I visit New York from South Florida. Their signature artichoke pizza is WOWWWW, so creamy, and unlike anything else I have ever tried. I love it so much that I have even packed slices in my luggage to take back home to Miami. The flavors are rich and unforgettable, and with several locations around the city it is always easy to enjoy. A true New York gem and a MUST TRY for any pizza lover.
August 31 · Dalit RosenfeldWas looking forward to an artichoke pizza. Haven’t been here in years. I then see a rusted old Air conditioner dripping water into a bucket of old dirty AC water. That’s fine but on top of the flour is just gross. Especially with recent legionnaires outbreak. Overall this place looked disgusting. Came to the original 10 years ago and looks like the standards dropped
