Off the Wagon Introduce
For over two decades, Off the Wagon has been a staple of the Greenwich Village nightlife scene, establishing itself as a go-to spot for an unpretentious, high-energy good time. This isn't your average quiet pub or sophisticated cocktail lounge; it's a bustling, two-story bar and grill that captures the lively spirit of a classic college hangout. Located on the vibrant MacDougal Street, it’s a place where locals, students, and tourists come together to let loose, catch a game, and enjoy a night out without breaking the bank. With its casual atmosphere, extensive drink specials, and a menu of classic pub grub, Off the Wagon is all about fun and community.
The bar’s two-story layout is a key part of its appeal. The main floor often buzzes with patrons at the bar and in booths, while the upstairs area provides extra space for games, dancing, or simply finding a spot to hang out. The decor is simple and functional, designed to facilitate a good time. With 17 TV screens and a giant 100-inch screen, Off the Wagon is a premier destination for sports enthusiasts. You can catch just about any major sporting event, whether local or out of market, and the crowd’s enthusiasm is contagious. This makes it a popular spot for groups looking to celebrate a win or just enjoy the communal thrill of a big game. Off the Wagon embraces its identity as a party bar, a place where the music is loud, the drinks are flowing, and the energy is always high.
Off the Wagon is conveniently located at 109 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012, USA, placing it directly in one of the city's most iconic and lively neighborhoods. Its prime location in Greenwich Village makes it easily accessible for a wide range of people, from nearby NYU students to those coming from other boroughs. The bar is just a short walk from several major subway stations, including the West 4th Street – Washington Square station (A, B, C, D, E, F, M lines) and the Christopher Street – Sheridan Square station (1 line).
MacDougal Street is known for its energetic nightlife and is a popular destination for bar hopping. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1One of the most fun spots in the city!! Chelsea is by far the best bartender in the city her vibes and energy are second to none. Cool spot if you’re bar hopping or getting together for drinks with friends a good time no matter the occasion!!
April 18 · Azem TemajDo NOT play darts here, the bartender will definitely let you know that is NOT okay to play darts in the bar with a dart board. Please do NOT interrupt her conversation with a drunk guy to return the darts and get your id back. If you want to have an attitude for the entirety of the 45 minutes you stop by, this is definitely the place to be. If you want to have a good time there are plenty of other bars in the area. Overall, you’re better off getting a beer and drinking it at home. Meh is the best I’d have to say about this place, and it’s probably an awesome bar but a shitty bartender makes it a shitty bar. Have a good one. Bouncer was cool tho 👍
August 19 · John “fatboy” SmithAmazing spot to watch sports and grub on some good bar food. This place also gets rowdy late night with a lively crowd. I came in to watch some college football the other day and ordered some chipotle bbq wings and fried pickles. The wings were delicious and they have 8 flavors to choose from. Fried pickles were amazing too. They have plenty of TVs and a bunch of local beer on tap. There’s an upstairs as well so plenty of room for games and late night dancing.
November 10 · Taylor SnipesI tried coming in for my friend’s birthday party and they didn’t let me come in with them because I vouched for my friend who didn’t have her ID and she is fully 22. We respect that bars rules that with no physical ID you’re not granted permission inside the bar, however I am 22 and have my ID. I have never been to a bar that has denied me entrance because I’ve stuck up for a friend. I genuinely don’t want any animosity towards this place, however the guy at the door is being rude and pointing and laughing at us. I genuinely can’t believe someone can be treated this lowly for just trying to go to their friend’s birthday.
May 16 · Viktoria MillerWent on a Wednesday night to watch the Knicks playoff game. I had the Burger and a Side of French Fries. The burger is juicy, lots of flavor, and the fries were crispy. Many TVs to watch Sports. There was Hockey, Basketball, and other sports on.Drinks are around $10 (decently priced for the area) staff is friendly.
