★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Bao Tea House was so cute and I really liked their drinks and baos! I thought the chicken bao had a flavorful filling and a nice, flaky exterior. I did not like the veggie bao filling as much, but the bread was still good. The interior of the restaurant was unique and cute. They have downstairs bar seating and a cute upstairs area with unique seating. All the staff I talked to were very nice and helpful. They also had punch cards and a promotion for a free drink if you spend $15. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area and am looking for a light snack and drink.
March 18 · Lynne ChenAmazing selection of steamed buns (and a veggie one too!) and sweet and savory baos. The setting is like a Japanese tea house. Their tea was amazing as well as matcha latte. Everything is under $10 and some under $5. It’s the perfect location right on Mulberry Street and the staff was so kind and helpful. Definitely add to your list! Please support your local businesses!
June 15 · Average SocialiteLove the atmosphere, would come here just to sit and relax in the upstairs area. Lava bao is 10/10, ube is good too and valentines is a little odd but perfect if you like strong rose flavors. Strong espresso.
May 31 · Briana GI was surprised by the amount of bun selection they had here. They have so many flavors which cover sweet and savory. They also have Gua Bao which are my favorite! Staff is super nice and will walk you through all the flavors and different drinks. Love this place and highly recommended it.
June 20 · GurleenCute café that can be a respite, especially for tired tourists! The second level is a minimalist Japan style setting, quite zen like!I ordered the Valentine bao (contains rose flavor custard), lavender drink, and curry onigiri (comes in 2). Everything was delicious! Definitely eat the bao while it's still warm. Onigiri was yummy but greasy. The single restroom is located down some steep steps. The worker is friendly and I appreciate her arranging my food on a tray when I returned from the restroom. Only complaint I have to point out is that there was a strange, slightly sewage smell that permeated through. Hopefully, that was just an off one time thing!
