Bar Tontine Introduce
When you're looking for a bar in New York City, you're not just looking for a drink—you're looking for an experience. In the heart of the Financial District, a neighborhood known for its historic and powerful energy, Bar Tontine offers an escape to a different world. Perched on the 15th floor of The Wall Street Hotel, this bar is a sophisticated urban oasis, blending Parisian-inspired elegance with a lush, tropical aesthetic. It’s a place that feels a world away from the bustling streets below, making it an ideal destination for a special date, a celebratory night out, or a luxurious happy hour.
What sets Bar Tontine apart is its stunning design and atmosphere. Inspired by the iconic Maison de Verre in Paris, the interior features artisan-made glass panels that glow with an amber light, ebonized wood accents, and abundant tropical greenery. The result is a space that feels both intimate and expansive, with a decor that is both pretty and sophisticated. This is a bar that has been meticulously crafted to be visually stunning, providing a perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. The name itself, "Tontine," honors the rich history of the building, which once housed the Tontine Coffee House, a pivotal center for commerce and news in the city's early days. Bar Tontine brings this history into the modern day with a distinctly elegant and elevated approach.
Beyond the decor, the experience is elevated by a menu and service that are equally impressive. The food and drink programs are overseen by Michelin-starred Chef John Fraser, ensuring a level of quality and inventiveness that is a step above. The cocktail list is designed to surprise and delight, featuring a playful agave-forward program that celebrates the margarita, alongside other creative concoctions. The small plates and bar snacks are designed to complement the drinks, with elevated options that make this more than just a place for a drink, but a complete culinary destination. The fantastic service, which has been noted by patrons, adds the final touch to an experience that is nothing short of luxurious.
Bar Tontine is conveniently located on the 15th floor of The Wall Street Hotel at 88 Wall St, New York, NY 10005, USA. This prime downtown address places it right in the center of the Financial District, making it an excellent meeting spot for after-work drinks or a pre-dinner rendezvous. Its location on the 15th floor provides a unique vantage point, with a 180-degree wraparound terrace that offers a sweeping panorama of Lower Manhattan and the East River. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Stunning place that would be perfect for a date! The drinks while good didn’t blow me away, but all the drinks I tried were from an event by a famous bar in Mexico. Both indoors and outdoors seating feel very pleasant. The views aren’t necessarily great but the deco is very pretty.
July 20 · L.The weather gods smiled upon us last week and kept the rain and cool temps at bay and treated us to lush jungle floral vibes at Bar Tontine located on the 15th floor of Wall Street Hotel.Fantastic cocktails and snacks by Michelin-star Chef John Fraser, as well as decor inspired by Maison de Verre in Paris transported us into the Summer despite the psychotic weather.Even if the rain didn’t hold back, the indoor lounge is gorgeous!Follow GlamYourGlass on IG for more recos & tips!
June 16 · glamyourglassIf you are in FiDi whether for meeting, or work or just passing by definitely come for a carefully crafted cocktail to Bar Tontine. From the decor to the margs, delicious flavors loved to visit here on a Wednesday afternoon. We had la Sandia a cocktail with reposado, curacao and watermelon! Loved every sip. Then I had el pimiento it was savory yet refreshing and a bit of authentic by adding those pieces of peppers! Guac and chips was delicious and fresh, chips were crunchy and made real corn instead of wheat flour which I enjoyed (trust me I am mexican and very picky with my chips). I wanted to order more food but didn’t hence will definitely have to come back.Follow @winedivaa on IG for more reccos
July 02 · Martha aka WineDivaaBeautiful Rooftop Happy Hour 4-5 PM The cocktails and snacks and service were all very good. Definitely a recommend!
July 19 · J OzBeen to la marchande downstairs and it’s always phenomenal. Great service, drinks, food. Everything. We recently started going to this rooftop for a night cap. First time we went it was great. Last night things took a turn- we asked them if they could make a cocktail we like (la marchande does it, and even the rooftop has been happy to make it for us before). He told us he couldn’t (we assume he meant due to ingredients needed maybe?)- so we explained they were able to make it the week before without an issue. He started becoming hostile saying that should have never been allowed etc . Now I get some bars have rules with that. But his delivery, approach, everything was very off. Extremely hostile, and lacking basic hospitality skill sets- really threw the whole vibe off and it’s a shame because we enjoyed going up to the roof and having a drink. We won’t be back. We will stay downstairs at la marchande. Idk who this guy, maybe the bar manager, but he needs training on how to talk to guests.
