Filaga Introduce
Nestled within the vibrant and bustling Chelsea Market, Filaga stands out as a must-try destination for anyone in New York City with a love for pizza. Located at 75 9th Ave, this pizzeria brings the authentic flavors of Sicily to Manhattan, specializing in a style that is both light and crispy. While New York is famous for its classic slice, Filaga offers a delightful and distinct alternative that has quickly earned it a loyal following. The restaurant is known for its fast service and friendly staff, making it a perfect spot for a quick and delicious meal amidst the hustle and bustle of one of the city's most popular food destinations. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of what makes Filaga a standout choice, from its unique location and menu to its accommodating services and inviting atmosphere.
Filaga is more than just a pizza shop; it's a celebration of traditional Italian craftsmanship. The dough is a key ingredient in their success, meticulously prepared with an artisan proofing process that can last up to 96 hours. This dedication to tradition results in a crust that is "light and airy," as noted by one customer, and highly digestible. The menu offers both traditional round pies and their signature rectangular "Pizza al Taglio" slices, each topped with carefully selected, high-quality ingredients, some of which are imported directly from Italy. The ambiance is casual and trendy, fitting perfectly within the lively environment of Chelsea Market, and draws a diverse crowd of college students, tourists, and locals. As one reviewer mentioned, the experience is so good it can feel like "a culinary journey," making every bite a memorable one. Filaga’s commitment to quality and authenticity is evident in every dish, and it's this focus that sets it apart from the rest.
Filaga’s location inside Chelsea Market at 75 9th Ave makes it an incredibly accessible and popular destination. Chelsea Market is a major tourist attraction and a well-known culinary hub, situated in the heart of the Meatpacking District. The area is served by several subway lines, including the L, A, C, and E trains at the 14th Street/8th Avenue station, which is a short walk away. This makes it easy for anyone in the city to visit. The restaurant's entrance is wheelchair accessible, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their delicious offerings. However, as noted in customer reviews, seating inside the market and specifically at Filaga's counter can be limited, especially during peak hours. This has led to many customers opting for takeout and finding a spot in the communal seating areas around the market or enjoying their meal on the go, which is a common practice in this high-traffic area. The vibrancy of the market adds to the overall experience, though it's worth planning your visit during less crowded times if you prefer a more relaxed setting.
Filaga offers a range of services designed for maximum convenience and flexibility, catering to the busy lifestyle of New Yorkers and visitors.
The services offered include:
- No-contact delivery, Delivery, and Onsite services.
- Takeout for a quick grab-and-go meal.
- Dine-in with limited seating options.
The emphasis on fast service is a key highlight, ensuring that even with a crowd, you can get your food quickly. This is particularly appealing for those on a tight schedule or looking for a fast, satisfying lunch. The menu is available for both lunch and dinner, making it a reliable choice for a meal at any time of day.
The features and highlights of Filaga are centered on its exceptional food and overall customer experience. The pizza itself is the main attraction. The menu offers a wide variety of "Pizza Romana Slice" options, which are the signature rectangular slices, including unique flavors like Parmigiana Di Melanzane and Dolce Inferno. For those who want a full pie, options range from the classic 18-inch Margherita Pie to larger 6 or 12-slice pies with toppings like Prosciutto and Cotto E Funghi. The menu also includes focaccia and aperitivo options like a Charcuterie Board, as well as affordable beer and wine to complement your meal. The staff is consistently praised for being "friendly and quick." The fast service ensures you get your food in just a few minutes, as one reviewer pointed out.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This pizzeria is located inside Chelsea Market! It is a must-try because it's light, crispy, and tasty. We ordered, and the staff was very friendly and quick; in fact, they served our pizzas in less than 3 minutes. They don't have much seating, so I recommend going at less crowded times or ordering takeout, because even though we found a seat, we were surrounded by people who pushed us around, which wasn't very pleasant.
September 01 · Monica MarinelliThere are many types of pizza, and I hope to try every flavor, but unfortunately my stomach is limited. There are not many seats on site, so if there are many people to order, you may need to take the public seats outside ( around the market / build )
July 01 · Tseng SimmonWe stopped to grab some pizza on our trip to Chelsea Market. The pizza was good. We thought the diavola would be more spicy. But it was good. The and arugula pizza was good too. I with there had been figs with it instead of tomatoes. Still very tasty though. I loved the bread that pizza was on. Definitely worth a try!
February 21 · Ogechi SinghOne of the best pizza a Taglio I ever had. Luigi was amazing.. great place for family and kids. Will definitely be coming back!
April 23 · PasqualeAbsolutely incredible pizza tasted just like Italy! The dough was so light and airy, and the flavors were authentic and fresh. You can really tell they care about quality. FILAGAO is a true gem for real Italian style pizza!
