When visiting Black Horse Pub, the choice can be tough given the menu's variety. However, the experience itself is a main attraction. You’re not just going out for food or a drink; you’re immersing yourself in a vibrant, friendly atmosphere that has made it a community favorite.
For the true enthusiast, the pub’s famous take on traditional English fare is a must-try. The Full English breakfast, even with a slight variation on the sausage, is considered a local triumph, especially the "absolutely nailed" black pudding. For savory comfort, the Blackhorse Bangers and Mash served with Guinness beer-beef au jus gravy, and the rich Shepherd's Pie are quintessential pub choices.
However, if you came specifically for the sandwich shop experience, two items stand out:
- The BALT ($14.00): This is a sophisticated twist on a classic, adding creamy avocado and flavorful garlic aioli to the standard bacon, lettuce, and tomato on a soft potato bun. It’s a perfect, fresh, and filling choice.
- Nonna's Meatball Panini ($12.00): A warm, hearty, and satisfying panini featuring housemade Italian meatballs, provolone cheese, mushrooms, and sauce, pressed until perfectly crisp. This is an ideal comfort sandwich.
Pair your food with one of their celebrated beverages. A cold pint of Guinness on tap is the classic pub choice, or explore their extensive beer list. If you're a cocktail person, you’ll find that their drink offerings are praised by customers. Ultimately, whether you are stopping by for a casual lunch, meeting a group to watch a match, or enjoying a full evening dinner, Black Horse Pub provides a high-quality, memorable, and welcoming experience that keeps Brooklynites coming back for more.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Rare Full English Done (Almost) RightIt’s almost impossible to find a proper Full English breakfast in Brooklyn anymore. But Black Horse Pub doesn’t just attempt it — they nearly nail it.I sat outside at a packed pub on a rainy day. The staff immediately wiped down the table and helped me connect to Wi-Fi — even typing the password in for me when I had trouble. That kind of service is unheard of these days. The wings were excellent — perfectly cooked, with a sweet-spicy sauce that didn’t overload on sugar. Drinks (Magners and a whiskey shot) arrived quickly, even during a full house. Now, the Full English.Eggs: perfect.Mushrooms: deeply flavorful.Black pudding: absolutely nailed it — earthy, balanced, rustic in the best way.Tomatoes and beans tied it all together into that rare kind of rich, savory balance that only a proper English breakfast can deliver.Only misstep? The sausage. Not a real British banger — more like a basic breakfast link. It knocks it down a bit. But honestly, in a borough where this dish barely exists, the effort and flavor still make it worth a strong 4.5 stars.Would absolutely come back. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a little UK comfort food in NYC.

March 19 · Ashley MaldonadoThe place it’s beautiful. If we're talking about service, it's horrible. I went to watch soccer because it was the final. I was there for half an hour waiting for a waiter to take my order for food and a beer... there were three waiters and the manager. They walked right by me and it seemed like they didn't even have ears. If you hire students to work for your restaurant bar, make sure you train them well... otherwise, you'll lose customers... The good thing that exists: Black Horse Pub, where they really are attentive to their customers. Sorry but we have to be real…
