What is Worth Choosing at Bonchon Brooklyn - 86th St
For a first-timer or a regular New York foodie, the best choices at this Bonchon location are those that showcase the brand's unique strengths: the Korean Fried Chicken and the creative Asian fusion appetizers.
The most crucial choice is the Korean Fried Chicken itself. Whether you opt for Wings, Drums, Strips, or Boneless pieces, the experience is all about the 'crunch out loud' texture. A great way to start is with the Mixed option (Wings & Drumsticks) in a Soy Garlic and Spicy half-and-half split to sample both signature sauces. The Soy Garlic is a sweet and savory, umami-rich glaze, while the Spicy sauce offers a satisfying heat. For those who can't get enough, the Seoul Sampler provides an excellent introduction, bundling two drums, four wings, Bulgogi Fries, Pork Potstickers, Korean Street Corn, and Coleslaw—a full tour of the best Bonchon has to offer.
For non-chicken dishes, the Bacon Kimchi Rice Bowl is a highly praised item, combining savory bacon and pork belly with stir-fried kimchi in a flavorful sauce over rice, topped with a fried egg. It’s a hearty and deeply satisfying meal that represents the restaurant's quality Korean comfort food. Additionally, the Japchae, glass noodles stir-fried with vegetables and savory bulgogi, is a classic Korean dish that is a lighter yet flavorful alternative to the fried chicken. Don't overlook the Korean Street Corn, a fun, cheesy, and spicy side that perfectly complements the main courses. Finally, for a sweet finish, the Korean Donuts are a highly recommended dessert item that many patrons love.
In short, Bonchon Brooklyn - 86th St provides New Yorkers with an exceptional and consistent destination for authentic Korean Fried Chicken and a diverse Asian fusion menu, ensuring a satisfying and memorable dining experience every time. It’s more than a meal; it’s an iconic New York crunch.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Sauce was salty, soy garlic was not very garlicky. Wished it had more flavor. Yangnyeom sauce was overly sweet and tasted like a sweet chili sauce you could buy in a chinese supermarket. Service was slow, only 2 workers but they gave me a free fountain drink for a google review which was nice. Chicken was crispy and had a satisfying crunch but the side dish (coleslaw and radish) was kind of bitter not so sure why. Overall I don’t think I’ll return on a regular basis as this did not wow me.
September 23 · ssI have always been a fan of Bonchon and although this location seems a lot more toned down and not fancied to a boutique restaurant level, the service here still focuses fostering that community aspect. Brenda did an amazing job when my order was messed and gave me two drinks to compensate for it. It was not a big deal to me and she did her best to accommodate the situation. The food was amazing as well. We got the Kimchi Bacon Bowl, Fried Chicken Mixed with Soy Garlic.
September 20 · Aung KyawOmg, they put employees who don't know anything about customer service. Showing attitude and being on the phone all 3 girls inside, I am asking if the food is ready, they are doing me a favor responding like why I am a customer! Come on, if you don't like so much your job, why are you here? Placed an order 40 minutes ago online, going inside and they asking me to wait more. OK. Coming home and garlic wings burned, fries cold (I live 5 minutes away), spicy wings are so so dry, and rice has so so much soy sauce. I am regular at Bonchon and tried ALL bonchon places around Tri State area, but this location..... is the worst! Who runs this place? Did you even train these people to cook or work?
September 07 · Rash1490Kathy is literally one of the kindest staff I ever met in my life. Food is halal so also good and their food tastes good too. The pricing is so reasonable too.
June 12 · Yasmin HallousaI want to preface this by saying I love Bonchon. Ordered a 10 piece of soy garlic and an order of onion rings. What I got was chicken that tasted like it’s been sitting out for a long time, cooked in old oil and somehow is not crunchy despite lacking sauce. This location is a Bonchon in name only, staff are untrained and look like they are strung out on substances. I have been to other locations and none of them are like this. Included the picture and I am airfrying them so they are at least edible. At $20 for a 10 piece this is garbage.
September 08 · Andy -Leticia is so kind and helped me to pick things for my meal without pork. She was patient as I chose a side and recommended the seasoned fries. I am loving it! I got the mixed lunch item with Korean bbq flavor!
