Brazilian Temakeria Introduce
For New Jersey residents seeking a culinary adventure that breaks the mold of traditional Japanese fare, Brazilian Temakeria in Newark offers a distinctly modern and vibrant dining experience. Located in the heart of the famously diverse Ironbound neighborhood, this establishment provides a unique take on sushi, specializing in a fusion of Japanese technique with bold Brazilian flavors. It is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for fresh, comfort-focused cuisine perfect for lunch, dinner, or a quick, healthy bite.
This style of dining, known as Japanese-Brazilian fusion, has flourished in Brazil—home to the largest Japanese community outside of Japan—and introduces unexpected yet delicious twists to classic sushi and rolls. Diners can expect creations that feature popular Brazilian ingredients like cream cheese, fried elements, and tropical fruit pairings, resulting in a menu that is often richer, more indulgent, and certainly memorable. It’s a casual, trendy environment perfect for family, friends, and solo diners looking for something beyond the conventional menu.
Brazilian Temakeria is conveniently situated at 33 Patterson St, Newark, NJ 07105, USA. This address places it squarely in the dynamic Ironbound section of Newark, an area renowned across New Jersey for its rich cultural heritage and incredible dining scene, particularly its Portuguese and Brazilian influences.
One of the major advantages of this location is its exceptional accessibility, making it an easy destination for those traveling throughout New Jersey and from New York City. The restaurant is located in a highly walkable area and benefits from excellent access to public transportation.
- Public Transit: The location is a short distance from the major transportation hub of Newark Penn Station, which serves NJ TRANSIT Rail (including the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, and Raritan Valley Line), PATH trains, Newark Light Rail, and numerous bus lines (including the 1, 25, 34, and others). This makes the restaurant particularly accessible for commuters and city visitors.

For the New Jersey foodie, choosing Brazilian Temakeria means embracing a creative, bold-flavored segment of the global food scene. The establishment’s most compelling draw is its deep dive into the Brazilian-Japanese fusion style, which is distinctly different from the often minimalist and reserved nature of traditional Japanese cuisine. This is a place for those who love their sushi with a surprising, rich, and often deep-fried element.
However, potential visitors should manage their expectations, as the fusion style is heavily characterized by elements like cream cheese and fried dough. As noted in customer feedback, if you are strictly seeking low-carb, pristine, traditional Japanese flavors without these additions, you may find the menu too heavily flavored or portioned for your taste. Customers have mentioned that cream cheese is nearly ubiquitous and that some dishes, like the Tuna tartar with Doritos, are highly unconventional, which speaks to the adventurous nature of their fusion concept. Other feedback highlighted that the fried sushi dough can be heavy, suggesting a need to be selective if preferring lighter options.
Despite these notes on its highly specialized style, the restaurant is a go-to for many precisely *because* of its unique appeal. The ability to accept reservations, the casual and inviting atmosphere, and the convenience of its Ironbound location and varied service options—including delivery and takeout—make it a strong choice. It’s an ideal spot to recommend to friends or family who are keen to explore the exciting blend of global cultures that defines the best of Newark's dining landscape. Ultimately, if you are prepared for an inventive, comfort-food-focused take on Japanese-style rolls and temaki, Brazilian Temakeria offers a unique and vibrant taste of this celebrated fusion cuisine right here in New Jersey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I can honestly say I'm not a fan of cream cheese literally in every dish I ordered here. If you are a fan of that, then by all means, come here. I wasn't impressed at all with the flavors of cream cheese and sushi. I'm disappointed in the doritos chips with Tuna tartar on it. The prices were steep, especially for what was presented. Service was standard, and the automatic gratuity was not necessary. I think those should be disclosed on the menu, along with everything in your meal, which could include cream cheese.
July 25 · Elisabeth ConcepcionIt was 2 pm on Thursday and there was no one in the restaurant. As appetizers we ordered Gyoza Chicken Teriyaki. It was good. We chose Combo 2 for the main course. The sushi dough was too heavy, and some were fried. I didn't taste sushi but only the dough. We don't like it. For dessert, a Lemon Pie which, in addition to being very sweet, had the taste of bitter lemon. Not recommended and will not be return. Another thing is the excess of small mosquitoes.
November 23 · Cesar DesouzaThe food is amazing. Went there because I was homesick of “Brazilian sushi “ and it was great. The costumer service was also great. The only thing o would say is that the GRATUITY was already INCLUDED and it was not informed to us so we almost tipped twice. I think that shouldn’t be included or at least be informed. Also because when is included usually make people not tip more that what is already included. Besides that, everything was greatAlso, they should open one in queens, all the Brazilians would love!
