Bunlicious Introduce
For New Yorkers with a craving for authentic and comforting Chinese cuisine, Bunlicious in Long Island City is a must-try destination. This restaurant has garnered a reputation for its focus on a beloved staple: buns, dumplings, and noodles. Stepping into Bunlicious is like taking a culinary trip, a way to experience the rich, traditional flavors of Chinese street food and home-style cooking right in the heart of Queens. It’s a place that appeals to both those who grew up with these flavors and new patrons eager to explore them. The restaurant is known for its casual, no-frills approach, letting the food speak for itself.
The menu at Bunlicious is a celebration of classic comfort food. A standout feature is the variety of “soupy buns,” also known as xiaolong bao, which are a true delicacy. With fillings ranging from pork to chicken and shrimp, and even a unique taro option, these delicate, flavorful dumplings are a major draw. But the offerings go far beyond that. The menu also includes a wide selection of noodles, rice platters, and hot pots, ensuring there is a delicious option for every appetite. The focus on authenticity and quality ingredients is evident in every dish, from the savory braised beef soup noodles to the crispy pork snacks.
While some customer reviews have noted that the in-person atmosphere can feel odd, with some lights possibly being off, this seems to point to the restaurant's primary focus on delivery and takeout. For many New Yorkers, especially those working or living nearby, a quick and delicious meal is the top priority, and Bunlicious excels at this. August 02 · Tanying DongSome constructive criticism...I was excited to see there was a soup dumpling place near my job. But when I walked in during my lunch hour I was completely confused if it was opened or not. The lights where off and there was nobody manning the front. I looked at the menu and all the prices on the menu was crossed out and repriced. Honestly the atmosphere just felt odd. So i just walked out. Maybe its just a place where people order delivery or takeout? 🤷 I was hoping it will be a go to spot to chill out during my lunch break but unfortunately it turned me off and I didn't get to order anything.
August 01 · Sophia LMy partner and I were in the neighborhood and got really excited when we saw a soup dumpling spot around the corner. We ordered the pork xiao long bao and the pork and crab xiao long bao, both were super fresh and delicious, especially for the price (~$18 for both). We eat a lot of XLB and Asian food in general, so trust us when we say it’s worth checking out!The staff are really kind, honest, and seem genuinely hardworking.I definitely recommend trying this place at least once if you get the chance, whether you’re stopping in or ordering on a food app. We’ll definitely be coming back :) Excited to try their other dishes!
July 19 · emtnl shawtyI love this place! This is gotta be my to go delicious affordable Chinese food in the neighborhood! The amount of food for less than 10 dollars is just unbeatable in this economy! Especially when it doesn’t require tipping? Wow I might as well stop cooking at home and just do take out here
July 18 · georgeDelicious and fresh food, clean, and wonderful service! Randomly stopped by and while the food took a little bit, it was worth the wait. I got the braised beef noodle soup! The atmosphere is small, quiet, and understated.
