Busan Gukbap (부산국밥) Introduce
Welcome to our in-depth guide to one of the most celebrated spots for authentic Korean comfort food in New Jersey: Busan Gukbap (부산국밥) in Fort Lee. The Garden State's dining scene, particularly in Bergen County, is renowned for its exceptional and authentic Asian cuisine, and this restaurant stands out as a true culinary gem. Specializing in the namesake dish, a hearty and deeply flavorful rice soup, Busan Gukbap brings the taste of Korea’s vibrant port city, Busan, right to the heart of Fort Lee.
For many in the New Jersey community, particularly those familiar with true Korean flavors, Busan Gukbap is not just a place to eat—it's a destination for a satisfying, soul-warming meal. This establishment is praised for maintaining a level of authenticity that even rivals some restaurants in Korea itself, according to enthusiastic patrons. The atmosphere is casual and focused on the food, making it the perfect spot for a quick, fulfilling lunch, a cozy dinner, or even a solo dining experience. If you’re searching for deep, homemade flavors and generous portions of Korean classics, your search ends on Lemoine Avenue.
Busan Gukbap, as the name suggests, focuses on the traditional Korean 'Gukbap'—a category of dish that combines soup ('Guk') and rice ('Bap'). Their signature offering, the Dae Ji Guk Bap (돼지국밥), a traditional Korean-style pork soup served with rice, is the star of the show and the specialty of the city of Busan. This dish is a culinary symbol of warmth and resilience, traditionally featuring a rich, long-simmered broth, tender slices of pork, and rice. Reviews consistently highlight the incredibly deep, rich flavor of the broths served here, suggesting they have been simmering for hours to achieve that perfect, savory quality.
Beyond their flagship dish, the menu at Busan Gukbap offers a wide variety of beloved Korean stews and other satisfying meals. Customers frequently recommend the Soon Dae Guk Bap (순대국), a spicy Korean-style soup featuring sundae (blood sausage) and rice, and the comforting Gam Ja Tang (감자탕), a spicy pork bone soup made with potatoes. For those looking for something outside of the soup category, a widely praised favorite is the Dak Bok Eum Tang (닭볶음탕), a spicy Korean-style chicken stew with tender chicken and vegetables, noted by one customer as being "out of the world insanely good" with an incredibly deep broth flavor. This variety ensures there is a hearty and authentic dish for every taste, whether you prefer beef, pork, or chicken bases.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The portion is huge considering the price! The food is goooood, and the server lady is not rude, she is pretty nice if you try speaking Korean with her. She must be slammed because she’s the only one serving all those tables and please give her patience. Try speaking Korean with her then you can see her real smile ;)
September 06 · Ada FengThank god we don’t live nearby! If we did, my husband and I would literally be going every day…The dakdoritang (spicy braised chicken) is out of the world insanely good. I don’t know what they do to it but the broth has such a deep flavor. It’s amazing. The pa muchim (green onion salad) that comes under the different types of meat is equally as good! Hands down the best Korean food in Fort Lee.My friends from Busan claim this place is better than actual restaurants in Busan 😉
June 28 · Jane SOne of the very few authentic Korean dish. Small menu. And great quality of food. Not a fancy place to impress your date but if you miss Korean food from home or Korea, this is the place.
May 07 · Stella ChaVery small space, Food is decent to be fair, options are very limited, popular items sold out pretty fast. Poor service, would give zero if there is an option.Squeeze 4 of us on a 2 people table without even saying sorry for the arrangement, feels like if you are not happy and you can go elsewhere. Lady server here barely speaks English and when we asked for more noodle she seems gets angry and starts being rude. Saying she can’t do it and said we should have told her from the beginning before ordering. Is that some kind of Korean culture? Have no idea, but I’m not come back.
April 21 · Reeve YauGood, comfort, authentic Korean soul food. They dont have many seatings and they get busy all the time. But it's worth waiting!💗
