The consensus among patrons is clear: the food is not only great but also comes in great size portions, and all for a great price, offering exceptional value in NYC.
You absolutely cannot visit without trying the Momo. These traditional Tibetan dumplings are a highlight, and the highly recommended Mustang Spicy Momo (available with beef, pork, chicken, combo, or as a standalone vegan option) is famous for its flavorful, addictive sauce—so much so that customers report literally eating spoonfuls of it after the dumplings are gone! For those who prefer a less spicy classic, the BEEF MOMO, CHICKEN MOMO, and VEG MOMO (vegan) are stellar choices.
For a warming, hearty meal, explore the Noodles section. The THUKPA (Tibetan noodle soup) is the quintessential comfort food, available with various proteins or as a vegetarian/vegan option. For something with a bit more chew, try the THEN-THUK or BHAK-THUK, which feature hand-pulled or cut noodles respectively. More familiar options like CHOWMEIN and flavorful GARLIC NOODLES are also available.
Beyond the staples, the restaurant shines with its unique appetizers and main courses. Start with CHANA KATSA, which one customer described as tasting like a more flavorful boiled peanut—a delightful surprise. The SHA FALAY, a Tibetan Pattie, is another authentic small plate to try. For the main course, consider the bold and flavorful CHILI DISHES (like the CHICKEN CHILLI or BEEF CHILLI) or the extensive CURRY options which range from VEG CURRY to rich LAMB CURRY and seafood choices like SHRIMP CURRY. They also offer unique flavors in their MANGO DISHES and GINGER DISHES, ensuring there's something to suit every preference, whether you opt for MANGO CHICKEN or GINGER SALMON.
For the complete Tibetan dining experience, the THALI is a fantastic choice. A Thali is a platter served with lentil soup, mustard greens, beets, radish salad, papad, and your choice of rice or TINGMO (steamed bread), accompanying your selected main protein (VEG, CHICKEN, BEEF, PORK, LAMB, SHRIMP, or SALMON). This provides a perfectly balanced, all-in-one meal that showcases the diversity of the cuisine. Cafe Tibet delivers on its promise of delicious, high-quality, and reasonably priced Tibetan food, making it an essential visit for any New Yorker.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A really lovely place with really delicious food. I had their spicy momo, chili chicken, and chana katsa. The chana tasted a lot like boiled peanuts but more flavorful, which was a delight. The spicy momo was incredible, I literally ate spoonfuls of the sauce once we had eaten all the momos. Chili chicken was good, but next time i’d opt to try a noodle dish. The atmosphere was nice, a perfect date night. Highly recommend!
April 26 · Isabel DeverGreat food, great size portions, and all for a great price. Everything we had was outstanding. Must try if you are near.
May 17 · Loren HendersonLove this place. It’s cash only. Usually order the mango lassi which is amazing. The app I got were the chickpeas which were a little dry and the cabbage salad. The lamb curry which is good it used to come in a bigger portion also it used to taste better but it’s still good. The other main dish was the chicken mango which was really good. I highly recommend this place and trying new dishes every time you go.
August 06 · Confessions of a Food FreakI have been here so many times in the past 10 years. Finally, I am writing a review. I tend to get the same dishes every time because they are consistently good. My go-to dishes are lamb Thali, pork chili, and momo. We tried fried momo this time and the fried version was perfect with the crispy texture. The service here is very friendly but slow. But once your food arrives at your table, your hanger will be gone within the first bite. So it is worth the wait but best to go there when you are not so hungry.Updated (03/05/23): this is still my favorite spot for Himalayan restaurant in the neighborhood. I just cannot help it to order lamb Thali again. So delish!
March 05 · Achara KelleyCash only spot and prices are great considering what you get. Food is delicious but takes a while and there was no ac so it was a little uncomfortable. I got chicken thali and it was very good. The beef momos were also pretty good. All in all I would come back and try other dishes.
