Chefski Dymski Introduce
For residents of North Jersey who appreciate the hearty, comforting cuisine of Eastern Europe, Chefski Dymski stands as a local resource for traditional Polish food right in the heart of Wallington. While the establishment identifies primarily as a Polish restaurant, its culinary focus is on classic, home-style Polish comfort food—dishes that evoke the warmth of a traditional kitchen. Located conveniently in Bergen County, this spot is known for offering a wide-ranging menu that includes everything from classic potato pancakes and pan-fried kielbasa to a massive selection of pierogies.
The experience at Chefski Dymski is designed to be casual and welcoming, catering heavily to the local crowd. It is a place where lunch and dinner are the main events, offering substantial, filling entrees that are popular for both solo diners and family meals. The atmosphere is unpretentious, reflecting the simple, satisfying nature of the cuisine it serves. For those who frequent the Wallington area, Chefski Dymski provides a reliable option for a quick bite or a complete, traditional Polish meal.
A cornerstone of the Chefski Dymski experience is the namesake pierogi. As a key supplier and producer, the restaurant/deli offers an expansive list of pierogi flavors, ranging from savory staples like Potato & Cheese and Mushroom to sweeter varieties such as Apple, Blueberry, and Sweet Farmer Cheese. These dumplings are central to the Polish culinary tradition and form the core of the menu, often served pan-fried with onions for a classic finish.
However, it is important for prospective patrons to note that the quality and execution of the food, particularly the highly anticipated pierogies, have been a subject of mixed customer feedback. Recent reviews mention inconsistencies in the preparation, specifically noting that some pierogies were found to be bland or the accompanying onions were not properly caramelized. While the commitment to traditional Polish flavors and a friendly service remains, users expecting the high standard of a previous ownership or a truly elevated homemade experience should adjust their expectations. The restaurant’s appeal, nonetheless, rests on its sheer variety of Polish staples and its presence as a dedicated local spot for this specific cuisine.

What is Worth Choosing
Despite some recent customer feedback regarding consistency, Chefski Dymski’s comprehensive menu of Polish classics still offers compelling choices for a full, authentic meal.
For first-time visitors or those seeking a broad taste of the offerings, the Chefski's Sampler (Talerz Chefski) is highly recommended. It provides a convenient platter featuring fried kielbasa, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, stuffed cabbage, and a few pierogies, giving you a comprehensive overview of the restaurant’s core strengths in one dish.
When focusing on main courses, the Stuffed Cabbage (Gołąbki) and the Breaded Pork Chop (Kotlet Schabowy) are time-honored Polish favorites that deliver traditional flavor profiles. The Hungarian Pancakes (Placek Po Węgiersku), a hearty potato pancake topped with goulash and vegetables, also stands out as a substantial and satisfying choice.
Given the restaurant’s strong focus on pierogies, it is still worth exploring the sheer variety of flavors available. The savory options like Potato & Onion or Sauerkraut & Mushroom are traditional picks. While recent reviews suggest that the execution can be inconsistent, the Sweet Farmer Cheese or fruit-filled options like Blueberry make for a unique and sweet small plate or dessert.
Finally, starting your meal with a classic Polish soup, such as the authentic beet-based Red Borscht, provides a warming and traditional prelude to your main course, solidifying the experience of genuine Polish comfort food in Wallington, New Jersey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place used to feel like a hidden gem, now it’s better off staying hidden. The potato cheese pierogis were bland, and the onions on top didn’t seem caramelized at all, more like they had just been quickly tossed in oil.Do yourself a favor and go grab a family size box of Mrs. T’s Pierogis (24 pierogis) at Walmart for $5.97 rather than paying $9 here for 12-15 pieces. When frozen food tastes better than your cooking, you know you’ve got a major problem. That said, the service was friendly and it didn’t take long to receive the food after ordering.
August 20 · JonathanThe food is terrible, the soups are bad, too salty and the selection is poor. The dumplings are terrible, the frozen ones from the store are better, the dough in the dumplings is terrible, no butter at all, nothing but dry onions, not even fried yet. When the old owner was there, the food was much better, the soups were delicious, and there was a wider selection. The dumplings were much better, now the dumplings are terrible. I got żurek soup without eggs several times.
September 18 · Dominika KI went to this place to get soup for my wife. She wanted red borscht soup. They have the regular size 8-10 oz at $6.50. After I placed my order for the quart size with the worker. A female worker rung me up. My bill for a quart size soup of red borscht was $28. Copy of receipt attached, she charged me for 4 regular size soups and said that’s the price. I paid because I needed to get home. After receiving my order she provided 2 quarts of soup instead of the 1 quart that I ordered. I guess they realized they overcharged me. I will never go back here again.
March 03 · Louis PakovicsI was excited when I first got my food but then when I eat it I realized it was full of filler and not too much meat so I was a little bit disappointed... Other than that the store has really good products for great prices. So if the food wasn't worth it then at least the products in the store were worth it.
July 11 · Allyson KasumovHidden gem. Great food at very reasonable prices. The atmosphere is kinda spartan but it is clean and friendly. Takeout and frozen versions of some menu items available.
